It's not me. I'm not having a trial aver this. I posted the name of the author and a link at the top of the story. But thanks for the salute!

I'd be the first in line for a battle worth fighting. Being asked at a roadside check, to produce my drivers license, isn't it.

And I'd suggest instead of getting your panties in a knot over this event, that you learn to read and comprehend whats been written. In the very first post of this thread he very clearly posted the link and the authors name.

Perhaps if you learn to comprehend the written word, you'll more clearly understand the actual problems facing us today.

And I'll go a bit further. It's a true fool who thinks he can understand what I would do in any given situation just by what was posted here.

In my post, I was also referring to the author.

Gosh, I'm happy for you. Try and improve your comprehension a bit also. I didn't even respond to your post.
Hence the words.... Re: stonedfish.

In the end every person has an individual conscience that they must follow. I think everyone is entitled to act in accordance with their own conscience whatever that may be. It is not my place to judge someone else but I do have opinions predicated on their actions.

I have wrestled with these issues and have come to a quasi-firm stance.

I have talked with friends who say that we should comply with the extant gun laws. I understand. But I ask them what will they do when the laws outlaw their current armament. Each one gives a different answer for that. For me, personally, I am in compliance with all laws. But if the laws change I won't be for I will not give up one bullet to comply any further with unconstitutional laws.

I have drawn a line in the sand.

I own no weapons that are registered nor do I ever intend to own one. My motto is:

"No registration, no confiscation, not now, not ever."

For the record, I'm not a hard ass nor do I even like guns. I do not hunt or use what I have for any reason other than to protect the ones in my charge.

I really wish that if I had a home break-in I could just stun them with my good taste in decorating but I don't think that works very well.

Have you never heard of the slippery slope? Just where would you draw the line? Your house? Your bed? Your wife or girlfriend?

i still don't see the big deal about being asked to show your license in that situation. unless you are a fugitive on the run, then why would you have a problem with it? as i said before, i don't exactly call having to show my license to an officer while im driving my car on a public road trampling all over my constituional rights, imho. if you have a problem with showing your DL, then why not spray paint over your license plate while you're at it? why should the authorities be allowed to run my plate and find out who the car is registered to? why even have drivers licenses?
now, i could understand the guy being upset if he was in his house when they busted open his door and demanded to see identification and wanted to search the premises. i would be on his side in that instance. or, if he was driving along, obeying all traffic laws, and was stopped for no appearant reason. maybe i would be on his side there.

The Nazi's would have loved your attitude.

a little melodramatic, don't you think? actually, i think they would love your attitude more. resisting any attempt to have to produce identificationg to authorities, they would have free reign to enter the country and set up shop.  :smirk:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."----The US 4th Amendment

i don't see how the 4th amendment applies to this situation because it says "unreasonable searches and seizures". well, who decides what an unreasonable search is? having to show your DL a few miles from a border crossing is certainly not unreasonable in my opinion.
