    #11786139 -

Ok, so I have a question. Which is better, the popcorn tek, or the PF tek? I cant decide on which one I want to use.

depends on your available materials and ability to follow directions, pf tek is proven time and time and time again and a brain dead 3 year old who can read can do it, it's a great start and allows you to first learn the life cycle of growing shrroms, if by popcorn you mean spawnin it to bulk or casing, you should have greater yeild but also a greater chance to fail, nether are hard, and once you get it right once its like riding a bike, i personally would skip traight to grains, but there is NOTHING wrong with going with the pf tek

Pf > popcorn.
But if yo have a pressure cooker, you might consider another grain like rye. If not, PF Tek all the way.

yeah its a bitch some time, i didnt have any luck till i soaked for 24, simmered, light boil, simmer, dry for a couple of hours, but now it works quite well, the drying part is a huge bitch if your just using a strainer in my opinion

Popcorn is harder to work with, more expensive, and not as good as spawn or as a fruiting substrate.
Why would anyone use it? Rye is best and easiest too. Then WBS. Popcorn is about the least friendly grain out there.

PF Tek, meanwhile, is the fastest way to go from spores to fruitbodies, by far. And it's easy to get right the first time.
And it works for other species beside cubensis, too.

So rye or PF cakes with a PC, PF tek if no PC. It's an easy choice for any new grower.

agreed popcorn is not a newb friendly grain at all, but in my neck of the woods, a 2 pound bag of popcorn cost 1.58$ and rye is 1.38$ a pound, with no discount for buying it in bulk unless going on line, my resources are pretty limited on rye, thats why i like to work with popcorn, for fruiting, i got 6 flushes out of a 5 gallon mono bucket, and 7 out of the other, granted the flushes were nothing to brag about, but it still pumped them out. but i still agree with you, popcorn is probaly the worst choice for a first time grower

Well, I think the answer is "you should do PF Tek" and in my opinion, your best bet is to to it the usual way.
Widemouth jars, shotgun FC, the whole deal.
That's easiest, quickest way to go from spores to mushrooms you can print or eat.
