I don't understand why people take anti-depressants anyways,

like what the fuck is so depressing in your life you have to cure it with a pill?

I've been getting of my SSRI's recently as well.
I quit Zoloft cold turkey.
I have been weaning off the Seroquel.
The Seroquel withdraw cold turkey is like as bad as heroin withdraw from what people have told me heroin withdraw is like.
I have been feeling a lot of emotion a lot easier. Both good and bad. Body/brain zaps.

nothing. and thats the shitty part. depression isnt caused by having a shitty life. its not just feeling sad about something. its feeling sad about nothing for seemingly no reason.

this past semester i did really well in school, and well at life in general. everything is going perfect for me by anyones standards. yet I still feel sad, hopeless, and worthless. My circumstances are perfect, and I should feel pride in my school accomplishments, and happiness in the social life i've found. yet i've been too meloncholy to hang out with my friends (i'm not a very "fun" person anymore), so I have drifted away from them. Last year i had a GPA of 2.75 for one semester and 2.50 for the second semester. then this year, in my first semester, i got a 3.55. I should be happy right now. i've achieved a lot, and used to have a rich social life (that is until depression hit) but i still feel like shit everyday. by anyones standards my life is going well, and i should be proud of myself. yet I still feel worthless and sad.

depression is NOT a reaction to something bad happening in your life. Depression IS a psychological disorder that causes sadness, feelings of worthlessness, and hopelessness for no reason. it is not what most people call "depression" after something bad happens to them (thats not depression). True depression is not a symptom of an unsuccessful or unpleasant life. Its a disorder that makes you feel shitty about yourself and the world for seemingly no reason at all. nothing seems worth doing anymore, nothing seems interesting, you feel like you're the biggest piece of shit to walk the earth and like you are a burden to everyone around you, you feel guilty 24/7 (again, over nothing) and in some cases you feel  an incredibly strong urge (for no discernible reason) to end your life.

depression is not just feeling sad, or being a whiny cry baby bitch. its a disorder

Well said, I'd like to add that feeling depressed for no reason and having a life better than most but still feeling terrible seems to just make the depression worse. At least when you are depressed for a reason you can fix that reason. When your depressed with just the generality of life that's the kind of depression that people feel the need to have a pill help them with because nothing they are doing is helping them. I don't advocate any SSRI's though.

Clinical depression is a lot different than I lost my job and my GF left me depression.

My opinion on the surge of depression in the last 50 years is because of choice. There are way too many choices available to people and choice leads to regret.

yeah, i gotta agree with you that SSRIs are way overprescribed. depression is like ADHD, its over diagnosed and people are bombarded with medicine for it. But really, despite the evils of SSRIs, it comes down to what makes sense then and there. Being on an SSRI is bad, yes, but it is certainly not worse than killing yourself. If your choice was death or SSRIs, which one would you choose? at some point your paranoid  beliefs about crazy SSRI conspiracy theories goes out the window. would you rather be on medication, or would you rather kill yourself? thats the choice that some people are faced with. its a mental illness, so your mind ceases to function within the realm of reason, thus you cannot "talk yourself out of it". so it really becomes a life or death issue. one minute you're just sad, the next you've got a gun in your mouth. it really is a disease, not just a state of mind that you can "work your way out of"

I agree that they have their place but I also believe that they are often put at the wrong times in the wrong person far more often than they are put in the right person at the right time.

It really comes up to a personal choice though and I wish more things came from a real educated choice instead of just what I heard.

yeah. prescription drugs are like any other drugs. you gotta research the shit out of them before you try them to make sure you know exactly what you are getting yourself into.

sure, doctors know what they're doing, but your treatment plan has to agree with you.

When taking anti-depressants like celexa, does anyone notice it effecting their THC high?

I actually like it a lot.  I've been trialing so many combinations to treat the nueropathy the last 2 months and this finally works decently.

The cymbalta was a fucking nightmare.  Certain SSRI's in non-depressed people work differently and kill pain and nerve issues.  Well, it did that part just fine but I was a soulless robot that month.  I think I actually smiled once.

I detest SSRI's and how they are prescribed and so 'guessworky' in bipolar and depression cases.

Yeah, SSRI's aren't for me at all; how is not being able to cum supposed to cure people with depression?

I tried Celexa and I started getting erections while walking down the street or sometimes just talking to a girl

I'm pretty sensitive as it is but this was just ridiculous and embarrassing and there was really no reason for it to be happening

sometimes I didn't even feel sexual and was not having any sexual thoughts

it also made it harder to cum though which is kind of an odd mix

the Doc also thought it was weird that it was making me more prone to erections when its usually the opposite

I'm never taking any SSRI's ever again, it's not worth not being able to cum.

Yeah, all those drugs that negatively fuck with your libido are useless, IMO.
