I agree the Fed should be more transparent, but why do people act like this is the holy grail of political moves? Honestly, it would only solve a few problems and certainly wouldn't be enough to fix the economy.

paul and grayson's bill was successfully attached (in its full form) to the house financial reform bill that passed last week.  we'll see how it turns out in the senate.

The Fed answers to no one.  Never been auditted.  Just a few months ago they spent 1.2 fucking trillion dollars ($1,200,000,000,000), and they told the government to piss off when they asked about it.  And the US government (same guys who liberated europe and nuked the Japs) went and fucked off. 

Private banks own the central bank, and they are able to set their own interest rates, and monetary policy.  Do a little research.  And if you are too lazy I guess I can show you.

This leaves private banks to do any fucking thing they want.  Christ, only the last two greatest depressions in hisory have been dubbed "banking crisises" and you think auditting the fed wouldn't fix the economy, when banks are essentially their own secret country?

This is an image actually provided by the Federal Reserve.

It's a shitty picture I know. But you can look it up in better quality online.  I'm sure you can just google image it.

It shows how six of the nine (that's a majority if you didn't notice) board members (directors if you prefer) of each of the twelve regional federal reserve banks are elected by the stockholders of that regional bank.  The only stockholders are private banks of that same region, and these stockholders also provide capital for the regional banks.  These board members staff their banks, and set the interest rates for their own region.  Each regional bank appoints one member to make up the Federal Advisory Council.  That council advises the board of governors (there are supposed to seven on this board, there are only five.  It's apparent that if you don't need seven you don't need five, if you don't need five then you don't need this board.  Basically I'm saying it's a puppet show, a charade.) who elect seven of the 12 board members of the FMOC. The other five members are the presidents of the regional federal reserve banks. These presidents are most often times board members (directors) themselves.

There you have it.  This clearly shows how the regional federal reserve banks control the whole system and how they are owned by private banks.

And you are lazy.

What you described is a sound & reasonable electoral arrangement for individuals who are quintessential for smooth regional banking operations.  Let's think: the regional Fed banks are in charge of monitoring local financial conditions, holding private bank's federal funds, adjusting policy tools as necessary to adjust to local economic conditions, and so on.

Who better to help figure all that out then people that the local constituency (the constituents of the Fed would undoubtedly be locals involved in the regional financial institutions) have elected? 




Going off of your description of "private banks owning the Fed" - you would have to say that "the American public owns the Government" ---- and i highly DOUBT that's true.

I never said anything anti semitic and I don't agree with everything Paul says, in particular his dual gold/debt money idea would never work. However there are no other congressmen even trying to stand up to fed corp so at the moment if you want out of every dollar that's created sending the country deeper in debt then bills like the audit the fed bill need to be passed.

Your response was full of comments regarding the fed's policy actions.  Our conversation was about the electoral process regarding the fed higherarchy.  They are not the same thing.

The Federal Reserve does not necessarily dictate interest rates. Credit markets do. The Fed can influence the market but most often it follows rather than leads.
