what's the geek in you?

i've got quite a few in myself.

i get a hardon for nifty gadgets and read wired and cnet like every day.

i'm in love with all things zombie, and all things apocalyptic for that matter.

i totally heart many cartoons, with futurama and the venture bros ranking at the very top.

comics and graphic novels make up a significant portion of the means by which i entertain myself.

and i'm a total fanboy for everything joss whedon.  even dollhouse, which i've been watching tonight.

which geek[s] shine through you?

Well mine would be what I quoted and I love to play video games/go on the computer when I'm stoned. Comics when I'm tripping is a :thumbup:

I have six computers between my wife and I.  I study math and physics every day.  I read tons of sci fi novels, almost exclusively with the exception of real science.  I hoard bootlegged data and media like a crazy person.

nah, that's not true.  geek is the new chic.  geeks get play these days.  completely socially awkward geeks is another story.  but one is not a prerequisite for the other.

you're a wine geek?  that's hot.

i'm so absurdly bad with wines considering the amount of time i've worked around them.  i really have trouble developing my pallet on my own, without a bit of guidance as to what i should be detecting and whatnot.  and i simply haven't studied the varieties enough.

it takes time and patience to develop.  i worked at a boutique wine store that specializes in fine & rare burgundy and riesling.  i was starting to get really good, but i was taking a weekly class taught by the buyers, and literally tasting wine almost EVERY day and taking lots of notes.  i started to get ok, but now i can only afford to drink wines under $10 a bottle.

i highly recommend "wine for dummies" as a good place to start for any aspiring oenophiles.

no way.  wine is great fun.  even though i suck at discerning the qualities, i love trying.  i love detecting subtleties in food, drink and smoke.  i love savoring the finer things in life.  man.. sometimes i think i'm doomed to the fine dining industry.  as much as i hate it, i also kinda really dig it.
