Any personal trainers up in here?
    #11580603 -

Are you making your own money or are you getting robbed by a commercial gym?  Or what?

Most "personal trainers" are just dumb meat heads.  Its because getting "certified" requires a hundred bucks and a weekend course.  They all act like its some great accomplishment though.

Well, some personal trainers are meat-heads, some certifications only require a few hundred bucks and a weekend course, and I don't think any of them actually act like it's a great accomplishment.

So, is there anything else you would like to add, jackass?

Don't hate the player - hate the game.

It's not the fault of certified 'meat-heads' like me who are willing to take advantage of a market full of unmotivated out of shape people who look like shit and won't do anything for themselves without being told what to do.

I don't hate the player or the game.  But you described being "robbed by the gym" as if you had a skill worthy of more pay.  Like most jobs, you're probably paid what you're worth.

my friend will train you after he gets to know your body and whats wrong. if you slouch and have horrible posture, he is goingto work around that to correct those problems first. For me he would work on my lower body b/c of driving habbit. It really helps out. that and we were both top cross country runnersand have been studying fitness since we were in H.S. Right now he mainly working with groups, hes charging i think $150 a weak or $250 for couples. He justhad to take another test last month, to take it the damn thing it cost him $300.

Yes.  Personal training is like any other profession, you're paid what you're worth.  The reason you feel like you're "getting robbed" by a gym, is because unskilled labor doesn't earn much.

Okay, fine.  That's the second time you've mentioned this.  Now go eat a cookie.

BTW, personal training has just as much to do with unskilled labour as being a professional racecar driver does.  A skilled/knowledgeable trainer can earn a substantial living, and charge what he so decides is a justified price.

yea but trainers are a dime a dozen...
nasrace car drivers...well i dont know HOW they are employed...possibly by the redneck south half of the USA
the trainers you describe making the big bucks are the ones oprah used...it is 1/100000000000 chance you will make it that big

the good news is that all you have to do is tell people what to do...so its not like your doing some crazy manual labour or workin out all day...

Considering that most personal trainers could be replaced by a exercise tape, no, you're not gonna make bank.

I attend a university to get a degree in "Kinesiology, Health and Fitness."  I'm only my third semester standing but have done some of my core courses and by the time I graduate, I will be certified in everything but I probably won't go into personal training(although always an option), I want to join the military and hopefully qualify to be a SEAL

not really, a tape cant tell you what you need to fix with your body and how to achieve that the best way. a tape is going to give you generic workouts that everyone should already know how to do, not how to do certain  workouts to correct toe-in or toe-out, or how to correct bowing of the legs. your tape isnt going to train your upper back and peck mucsles b/c you slouch making your back muscles extened and your peck muscle shrunk a little. the tape cant tell you anything.

yeah it is true, most personal trainers Ive known didn't really know their shit. you can tell when you see them giving H.S. workout routines and the substandard workout for each person. also
