Solipsistic dream

Last night I had an extremely terrifying solipsistic dream.  All I remember is looking at a pair of trees and the horizon behind them, and then all of a sudden everything rushed together into a horrifying unity, and then all these images ensconced me and I looked at them all with sheer terror as I realized that they were all me, all an illusion, and there was nowhere I could go to escape this solitary madhouse.

This was followed later by a dream in which I went to a cookie store and ordered a giant chocolate chip cookie.  The old woman behind the counter, whose hair-do was like a chocolate-chip cookie colored Afro, asked me if I wanted molasses on the cookie, and I said yes, recalling that molasses are a good source of iron.

What do you make of this?

I was really struggling with this concept for a while after a horrible ego-death trip.  I kept having this dream where there was nothing but a void and this white light in the "middle" of it, which was me, and was the only thing that existed.  As simple of a dream as it was, with absolutely nothing happening in it but just me as a ball of light in a void, I kept having it and waking up freaking out, sweating and all that.

Finally, one night I was seeing this ball in the 3rd person as I always did, even though I was the ball.  And this hand of light comes down and scoops the ball up and just holds it.  I wake up with a ton of anxiety completely lifted off of me, and I never worried about solipsism again.  I don't dream in the third person any more either.  Something in my mind finally clicked and healed I guess.  I'm a lot less detached since that dream.

Thanks for sharing that. :smile:  I do not feel solipsistic anymore now that I do not use psychedelics frequently and have a slightly more grounded lifestyle than I did in my late teen years.  But my generalized existential anxiety keeps growing and growing.  I never have panic attacks but occasionally when this anxiety reaches a crescendo I do self-destructive and self-sabotaging things.  Sometimes I experience clarity and calm, but it is always overtaken eventually.  I think this dream was just a symptom of a deep and persistent anxiety that I have to work with and transform.

I just look at my brothers, sister, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and so on, and realize that we are all biologically connected and rely on each other for survival.  In fact, every organism on the planet descended from a common ancestor, the proto-cell.  The chromosomes we inherited from our parents allow us to develop into sentient beings.

Basically, I use phylogenetics (classifying organisms based on similarity of genes) to disprove the idea that I am the only organism that exists.

I also failed my Modern European Philosophy midterm because I refused to believe in solipsism or dualism.

eh..

the thought is only terrifying if the idea of yourself is inaccurate.
it rarely isnt.

if everything is you and you are not content with that idea , that must mean that you are not content with the idea of yourself.

which is normal.

you must first realize.. that everything around you , although it is ultimately you, is actually existing ,doing ,experiencing and learning in order to find out who that ultimate I , is.

so in a sense , i like to keep that idea with me , while simultaneously experiencing the novelty and diversity in all the expressions of myself , or rather , the idea of my true self.

for everything is merely an expression of the infinite.

it is only when we analyze the infinite , with the perceptions of a finite physical brain that paradoxes arise and fear is not an uncommon reaction.
fear is , nothing more than not liking the idea that you dont know something.
it is a reaction of the infinite , dwelling within a finite body complex , saying :
how is it possible that i dont know something ?
i am everything.


i believe this dream is very important for you.
even salvia has offered similar lessons to certain individuals and she is a hasty , no nonsense kind of teacher..
shakes you to your core..
wake the fuck up.. we got shit to do.

perhaps.. it is a matter of haste that you get focused on what is important... right now.

use that fear to motivate you.
let that dissatisfaction with not knowing push you into a new understanding.

i promise you..
you will not find it frightening anymore..
actually.. you will find the way you used to look at things - frightening.

but .. of course..
later on... with newer information.. new fears will arrive in dealing with the mystery.
you will utilize it once again..
and again..
untill you remember all of them one day..
and figure out that all of it was simply a seeming distraction in order for you to learn about fear itself. maybe ?

so..
the whole idea of one infinite self , set you up on a confusing journey to learn something..
but what you learned was not that which you were looking for in the first place.
or is it ?

eventually.. maybe ? .. after billions and triilions of years  in existence exploring all these other concepts and ideas..
interacting with countless numbers of other consciousnesses.
having an immense library of experiences , and  a lesson learned from all of them..
maybe ? you might look back and notice a pattern.
you might see a little tune , which was going through the entire symphony of what you had called your existence..

there is nothing but you

so my friend..

instead of seeing this negatively , by projecting your current dumbass self  onto all of existence...
you might want to consider excepting and embracing everything around you.

the way i see it..
if all of this stuff around me ..
is me ..

the love
the hate
the flowers..
the dogs , the monkeys..

I think your just experiencing a prophetic dream concerning what is coming

the attempt to unify the world into one consciousness, only the men at the top of pyramid do not want to become an entirely new consciousness based on the merging with others, they want to assimilate all those below them in an attempt to expand upon their own consciousness
