To be honest, (and I am by no means pro or anything) the whole of your sound is alright.  Your flow is good. transition is good, but.

What I Feel I did not hear was much of a buildup and drop.  (which is what I guess i Am struggling with too haha).

It sounded like all of your instruments were also using the same "space".  in both panning and spatial awareness.  maybe if you modulated that a bit, and maybe permanently stretched left and right on backup sounds.

Also it seems most of your instruments shared the same EQ space.  I do not feel any driving bass.  Tune your bassline lower and give your kick some low frequency boost.

Do you use any compressors?

Using Software is kind of a handicap comparewd to what you are doing.  My EQ's and compressor's have so many dang presets I do not have to do much work in that department.  plus I have auto panner's and spatial generators.

Nonetheless, your tracks are listen worthy

thanks man for pointing out these things
- I need some new kicks, the standard ones that came with my Korg ESX aren't very punchy and lack low end.
- Basslines.. I don'intend to make fullon, and my preference is a more relaxed deep and warm bass
- Buildups and drops: you're absolutely right! It's hard to do that while playing live and I definitely need to practice more on that. It was the first time playing these tracks after each other and trying tomake songs out of it. Next time I'll practice more before recording and try to make more builds and breaks:cool:
- The same EQ space? Do you feel that instruments are in each others way maybe? and is it the synths or the drums you're talking about? I din't use a reverb over the mix so that could explain it! Today I should be getting my Lexicon mpx1 though:)
- I used a compressor/maximizer for over the whole mix, making it like you heard it. Over my studio monitors it's quite punchy though  but the low end of the kicks it's where it lacks I think.

hmm, I Am trying to think of an analogy for the EQ scenario.

A large ship is sinking and there are 3 life boats.

The first is a long skinny boat with very little buoyancy. We will call this boat "A"

The second is medium sized with medium buoyancy.  Boat "B"

The last is is a short wide boat with very good buoyancy.  Boat "C"

Now naturally if you want people to survive you would stick the smaller skinny people along with children in boat A, medium people in boat B, and fatty's in C.

It sounds to me like you have people from A and C trying to cram into B and that is over flowing and trying to climb back in A, leaving only a couple fatties left in C.
