Damn clogged tub....
    #11491847 -

Just moved in a few days ago too!

It was draining slow so I used a bottle of drain cleaner since I couldnt find any wire hangers but it didnt do shit.

And now it wont even drain! :mad2:

So I went out and bought one of those baby plungers for sinks, and that doesnt do shit either! All I seem to get is a shit load of air bubbles! (How does the air come up when I plunge but no water goes down?)

Im gonna have to find a damn wire hanger soon, and that better work.... Otherwise I have no idea what else to do...

How the fuck did the people before me shower like this??  :stars:

Try a plunger too, sometimes that works.

Don't call a plumber.  Don't try a plunger.  Don't use drano.

People before you probably had long hair.  Me and my girlfriend have long hair and we have to use a zip-it fairly often to keep the drains clear.

Drano won't work until you get the hair out.  zip-its are sold at lowes or home depot usually on the endcap of the plumbing aisles.  They are long plastic things with teeth on them.  Just insert all the way down the drain, then twist and pull.  When you pull out a lot of hair and gunk will come with it.  Do this a few times until it is fairly clear.  THEN, drano can be helpful but really not necessary.  Wash the zipit and reuse for a couple months.  they are like 2-3 bucks, but can be used a bunch of times until the teeth wear out.

We have to do this once a month or so, no big deal.  Save you headache and money with plumbers and drano... and just get a zipit.

A note to most people:

I heard a few months ago that they were linking some sort of lung infection to old used plastic shower heads.. I would hold bleach or something around your shower head

Fuck Im retarded... I just realized that all those air bubbles are from the overflow holes.

Im gonna tape those up and try plunging again.

And if that doesnt work I guess Im off to Home Depot.
(Wish I knew about this Zip-It before I bought this stupid baby plunger...)

PS myco_mikey_mo and PostiveOutlook: I have no idea how to take this damn thing apart.

if your tub has a little lever at the over flow, take out the screws, pull
the mechanism out, run a water hose down it and fill the gaps with a
washcloth, stuff one in the drain and put your foot on it, turn on the
water and wait, the pressure will blow the clog out of the trap

Ok, I seem to be too stupid to cover these damn drain holes properly. I used tape but air still managed to get through. I then stuffed a wet cloth but air still got through. I tried to tape the wet cloth but air got through and the tape couldnt hold the wet cloth.

I managed to take out the stopper and found a wire hanger and tried to stuff the wire hanger down through the drainer but it wont go down, not even an inch... Whats blocking the hanger?? It feels hard (I seriously dont know a thing about home improvement...) I guess Im gonna unscrew the drainer thingy now...

PS Prisoner: no lever on the over flow. And I dont have a hose.

just soak a cloth and push against air hole, then plunger the drain.... black crud and hair should come up..

some drains need to be dismantled before plungering or using a cloths hanger..

Dont us products like "draino"  they are bad for the environment, and don't work well!

is the plug for your drain the pop up type or is it one of those rubber bastards that everyone loses?

anyway the cover for the overflow should be simple to remove and the
basics for the drain on tubs are always the same, always try to work
through the overflow or you're going to introduce a leak, any long
semi-rigid piece of wire can allow you to snake the drain

Neither, it turns in the drain, not sure how to explain it... but its off now so...

I wasnt able to unscrew the overflow cover, the screws are too rusty. And the actual drain thingy doesnt have a screw at all and is stuck down pretty good, not like I can get a grip at all, nor would I pull too hard in fear of the whole tub ripping apart... :tongue2:
