Any one use electronic hygrometers?

I know this sounds silly, but a buddy of mine told me the humidity would actually screw up the electronic hygrometer. It makes if you consider that maybe the companies weren't expecting people to live in clouds, but at the same time you'd think they'd be smarter then that. What have you heard. What's your experience. Tank you.

they work for a short time
but are not really accurate
and yes the moisture will ruin them

Yea they usually last about a month and as noobie said they are really inaccurate.  Your better off buying an analog one

agreed..tried it twice when i first started.first a cheap one, then a fairly expensive one...both were innacurate and eventually starting acting weird, then just shit themselves.

i got a cheap analog and it ahsnt failed yet.also has the temp on it..hardware store-7 dollars

+1 on analog. Digital one off ebay has lasted 2 months but the screen messes up after a week in my chamber. Temps seem to read accurate though.

just put it in when you want to check the rh, then take it out and it will last much longer

Hi Beatnik;:hi: The high humidity (85% plus, but should be in the high 90's) that we use in our grow chamber for fruiting will mess up most electronic hygrometer, an electronic hygrometers if held at a humidity of 80% or more over a long time will give you a false reading. It's better to buy an old fashion brass analog hygrometer and some calibration kits, these can be had on Ebay if you can't find some one here that sells them.
