Emancipator - Soon it Will be Cold Enough * 1

Here's a link to Emancipator's first album, rereleased this week. Emancipator is a kid I've had the pleasure to meet named Doug. he recorded this first album, Soon it Will Be Cold Enough, between the ages of 15-18. All the guitar, piano, and violin you hear is actually played by him...he really idolizes Amon Tobin, BoC, Bonobo...and I've played this for other people and had them compare it to Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Proem, Ulrich Schnauss...

It's incredibly beautiful music and perfect for the fall season.

Doug's a good, humble guy - and if you can afford to spend $10 on the album, please do! He needs our support.

i'm listening to it now.  i'm not generally a huge fan of piano, but this first song is definitely palatable.  initial impression is reminiscent of talkDemonic out of portland, particularly the strings + studio mixing style.  quite well produced for just being a teenage kid.

if i remember, i'll post more of an opinion after listening to more than just the one song.

Is he really that young? I saw Emancipator at Trinumeral this weekend and he was incredible. He puts on a great show and really had the crowd enthralled.

Goodness, this first song is really well done. Thanks for the tip, OMR! Aside from the string ensemble, this is the same sound that I try to achieve when I write instrumental electronic tunes (though I'm nowhere near as talented). This is right up my alley.

Thanks again. I'll try to spread the word if I see that Doug is playing a show around here. =]

I discovered Emancipator on an STS9 podcast and I've been listing to him ever since.

Perfect 'chillin music'.

I like listening to it on nature walks. It's like the perfect soundtrack for a walk through the woods.

I saw him live not to long ago.  Emancipator and Steez...  It was pretty sweet, and it was free!!
