Is it possible for the human brain?

I think the brain can multitask but the awareness might have some trouble keeping up.

Depends on the tasks.

Why not?

If one isn't aware of the tasks at hand, how do you suspect they are completed?  Is devoting enough attention to each task part of what multitasking is?

What would be an example of two tasks that can be multitasked, and two that can't?

i feel like being forced to multi-task in office work settings has given me ADD.  i hate it and always feel like nothing gets done to the best of my ability when i am doing 3 or 4 things at once.

A learned routine can be played out as if you were performing one task at a time.

this means that even when performing a learned routine, you are experiencing aggregate sensation and recall of many related experiences.

those aggregate sensations and recollections influence the playing out of any routine that you may have going.

Since you only have two hands and two legs and one mouth, you have to interrupt a physical routine to perform another: if the aggregate of memory and sensation create the interruption; and if you are skilled at keeping track, you can return and continue the previous task.

this is as effectively multitasking as we get: interrupted task resolution and resumption. (though brain may be following non-body routines in parallel or aggregate) [although you can practice a routine that interleaves and blends two tasks and when it is mastered it becomes one task or routine.]

that being said, tonight I was driving and massaging my brake pedal shin at the same time more or less, but really it was interleaved behavior: while in a traffic jam. more like holding the hand on the shin or just going back and forth while concentrating on the main task of driving. The tasks overlapped but driving was prioritized.

what is really multiprocessing is the brain and stream of consciousness where simple things aggregate in passing with your personality and then pass away.
