Enlighten me?

I don't know much about this american chemical giant - aside from the fact that they are big business in the world of Genetic Modifying seeds, and that they are very strict and anti small farmer/organic, etc.

The epitome of globalization it seems - but really, im ignorant.

Anyone have anything to say?

I'm allergic to over 75% of fruits now so I have to buy organic.

What's changed? Fertilizer, pesticides?

I buy an apple at say, Food Lion, and have a terrible allergic reaction. I buy organic, I can eat my fav fruits again.


Organic ftw. It's worth the extra money.

i agree somewhat with your views on organic. At least i buy organic when i can, and i usually feel better than im buying "organic cashews" from my local healthfood store, rather than the discount prepackaged ones at walmart.

I suppose freshness has alot to do with it to.

I have lots to say but I have to clean up and cook some grains. So I will be brief. See the movie The Corporation. Read about how horrble Momsanto is, there is plenty of info online.

And, Check out John Saul. I was actually talking about him earlier today....

John Saul is highly respected and writes allot of fiction to, but his books like Voltaire's bastards, and the Doubters companion:A Dictionary of Aggressive Common Sense, are fucking explosive. :yesnod:

I cannot recommend the works of Saul highly enough.

There are lots of good books and documentaries that deal with this horrible company. Just look around. And read some John Saul, he doesn't specifically deal with Monsanto, but you SHOULD read his work. It's VERY IMPORTANT STUFF.

And, Corporate Vultures, are all worth a read.

Anyway, one last note about Monsanto, the same people that told us all their chemicals were safe, and lead us to the "cancer crisis" we have today. Are now telling us we should trust their food. Think about that.

Thanks, good reply - as impersonal as it is. :P

Im actually currently reading "no Logo" and its made me further second guess my opinions about corporations like Walmart and Starbucks. Hell, its opened my eyes alot more to marketing techniques i was already aware of.. and corporate/lifestyle branding.

Anyways, a cool story about the corporation -

I seen it at a small film festival premiere in my city, and Michael (mark according to wikipedia.) Achbar (the director) did a Q&A after the movie.. interestingly enough, we got to chatting about burningman - where he goes every year with a group of conscious friends, and he recommended we all go. It was my experience meeting Achbar that really turned me on to alot of counter culture ideas..


Looks like i've got some reading to do.

No LOGO is a great book. Many people have bias opinions based on the name, but as you already KNOW it's divided into 4 very important sections.

Just remember as you read more of this stuff. No you're not crazy.(of course not) It really is as bad as it seems(corporations are literally running things now) and YES we can fight back.

After spending many years being a little loud and dramatic. I have found the best way to reach people is by being slick, witty, and clever.

The World of Monsanto

This documentary should be watched by anyone that is interested in globalization, the control of world wide food supplies or the insane level of corruption that exists between organizations like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Monsanto itself.

Monsanto has become a beast on an international scale. They are in the process of creating genetically modified seeds for a plethora of agriculture (cotton, mustard, cauliflower, you name it) and many of the speakers in the video feel that this is the beginning of an attempt to have a virtual monopoly over the worlds food supplies. The genetically modified crops are beginning to contaminate 'authentic' produce all over the world; this is leading to mutations and very abnormal plant development.

I am so disturbed by this.

Another good documentary on Mosanto is the Future of Food. Also google the Terminator gene. U.S. government owns 50% of the patent on it and it is a GM seed that causes all of the crops seed to basically commit suicide at the end of the grow cycle so farmers are forced to buy more seed every year. Think of the awful things that would happen if this gene crossed with the original.............yay Americans.

Almost complete dependence on corporations for food and the ability to grow food on a global scale, at worst? The documentary that I watched also explored how Monsanto is attacking smaller scale farmers in different ways, using ridiculous lawsuits that the cause the farmers no end of stress and worry about their livelihoods.

Food inc is a good documentary that talks about Monsanto and other food related crisis and issues.

Thats what everyone here is looking for.

I love how the Europeans stood up to GMO's and many seem to have much better tastes in food quality then in America.  All the politicians are bought and paid for by corporations and their lobbyists where some of the most unethical bullshit can happen for profit.  It bothers me to no end but if feels like an encroaching giant that is too big to stop.

After being in Germany for a little over 2 months, I have to say on average the food is is way better, more cared for and with less preservatives. You have to spend less money to eat better in my opinion thus far. Shit like McDonald's here is a novelty, rather than a way of life, which is distinctly and unethically American.

I think Satan is a complete slave to his nature

there is no in between when it comes to these extra dimensional beings

the moment Lucifer(or Azazel or whoever he was) became filled with pride and lusted for our demise his nature was forever altered

he knows whats coming and yet hes doing it anyways

he couldn't change himself if he wanted too(in fact hes incapable of even wanting too)

he now hovers over the bottomless taking down anything he possibly can with him like a black hole
