.avi troubles
    #11229765 -

i've got a .avi of the movie 'waking life' that i can't get to play on my xbox360.
from what i have read, it's because it was encoded using an old codec (DivX 3 Low-Motion).

i have tried to search for other versions of the movie, but i can only find the DivX 3 Low-Motion version.

does anybody have a copy or know where i can find a copy that is encoded with a newer codec? i have a rapidshare account, so i can use rapidshare links.

and for all of you shroomerites that haven't seen waking life, you are seriously missing out.

No quality loss. It just converts the file into dvd format so you can burn it. It also burns dvds right in that program aswell. I like it alot. Just takes like an hour to do a movie though... unless you have a boss computer that does mad FramesPerSecond.

Lifenergy, the first links you gave contained an avi that also uses DivX 3 Low-Motion. did you even check it, or did you just do a random search for waking life rapidshare links? this is now the third version i have downloaded.

well, looks like i'm going to have to download the dvd version.

I play .avi's on my tv through the xbox 360, that's all I ever use it for..

like was posted above find a torrent of a converter and just convert the files to divx avi compatible files.

yea.  I've had avi's that wont play through the xbox.  and when using a converter like posted above will make it playable.

the converters will convert the older codex's to newer ones.  when you go to convert there are a few different avi formats to select from.  the divx avi format works good, but each program might label them differently.

added*  the converters aren't instant. they are automatic once you set the format you want. but, the process takes about 45 minutes depending on computer speed.
