Drying A. Muscaria

Hopefull this is the right forum for this topic. If not im sure you will all let me know. :smile:
So, I have usually dried A muscaria in the oven at about 190 degrees until they are crisp. Recently i let them air dry. It has been about a week, and they are almost dry. However, in the last week i have lost more than half of what i harvested due to some sort of larvae. I just thought anyone picking these should know about this, cause have gone in each day to dissapointing results. :frown:

A week and they're still not dry?  That's your problem.  The best way seems to be to cut them up into slices and then dry them in front of a fan and maybe a low source of heat.  It seems to work quite well for me; within about 48 hours or so the harvest is cracker dry.  I think if you let them sit too long the larvae can take over.  By the way I don't think this is the right forum.
Also, if you or anyone else is interested in learning a good way to turn an old computer into a dehydrator let me know; it's free and also inconspicuous.
