have we got any tattoo artist shroomerites?

i've been thinking real hard on the ink i want to get on my forearm[s].  i'm hoping to have the plan fully fleshed out within the next 6 months or so, though the sooner, the better.

i was thinking i'd like to do full color on one side, and straight black ink on the other, with the two regions kinda intermingling and teasing at the borders.  so i'm curious which side of my forearm (top or bottom) would be better for the color, and which for the straight black.  the underside of my forearm is pale and white, the top side is the most tan part of my body.

is there usually any difficulty getting color to remain vibrant on slightly darker skin?  i mean, even though my forearms are tanner than the rest of me, i'm still a pretty white kid. 

i feel like, preferentially, i'm leaning towards color on top over the tan, and black ink on bottom where the black/white contrast would be greater.  assuming i take care to wear long sleeves when under long-term sun-exposure, should this be a problem?

sorry to have brought up sad memories.  i never really knew gngyus myself.  just the nutsack tattoo.

but bump, for anyone who has any experience with colored tattoos.

i watched some pisa mexicano homeboy give a PW a tattoo in jail for a cigarette...

and he also pierced nipples too...

the diabetics were required to steal insulin syringes...

i think i still have his number if you want to come to monterey county in cali-o though for a half assed tattoo...

My very good friends are tattoo artists and I spend a lot, A LOT, of time in their shop. Soo maybe my advice can help a bit.

I'd get the color portion on the paler part of your arm (not the tan part) because lets be serious here, you're not going to wear a long sleeve shirt ALL the time, nor are you going to wear sunscreen ALL the time when it's sunny out. That being said, the color will hold and stay bright/vivid for much longer on the underpart of your arm, the black, tho it may fade a bit, will still be dark. Not to mention it'll be easier for touch-ups if youre putting black on black vs color on color. The touch ups if it starts to fade will be more noticeable on the color portion of the tattoo because it'll be that much brighter compared to the faded part.

aw man... that's not what i wanted to hear at all.

but i figured as much.  oh well.  i suppose i can deal with that.  i kinda liked idea of the bright colors being right there in front for me to look at any time.  but alas.

hey man it's your body. Do what you wanna do. I'm jsut giving you my opinion. and there's no reason why the black and grey cant be as good, if not better, than the color portion.

i've designed the only tattoo I have but it's my slight variation on a relatively popular symbol :shrug:

i've done a couple tattoos that I'm rather satisfied with. A cross and an orchid. I'm doing at tat on Sui pretty soon... Nipple men. I'll post pics when the time comes.

Tattooing is very exhausting because your putting 100% of your energy and attention into something for long periods of time but it's totally addicting and rewarding to create art onto bodies.

i'm lucky enough to have been born into tattooing too though. I made the noise of a tattoo machine as a baby in my crib before i was able to speak.
