My friend's friends are retarded. strychnine in mushrooms... LOL

I'm chilling at my buddy's house, and we're smoking a bowl, both me and him have a decent understanding about psychadelics and LSD/Mushrooms (however I still consider his knowledge a little ragged, as he calls 2ci synthetic Mescaline, and as anyone knows 2ci isn't mescaline).

So one of his other friends stops by with his wife, and they start talking about how mushrooms have strychnine and are a form of poison and that's what makes you trip.  I wanted to go off, I tried to bring up some points about the chemical structure and they both defended their claim that mushrooms have strychnine, and started telling me how it was and how they obtain them from what they grow off because of all the 'chemicals'.  ........

I wanted to laugh at them and call them retards.  Fucking strychnine, I thought that rumor had been finally snuffed out, and mushrooms 'poison you, that's how you trip'?  What the fuck type of shit is that.  They're a hallucinogen not a deliriant.

Another group of people spreading bad advice and lies about mushrooms.  Great.

No idea if there is anything to that and really don't care since I haven't done any and don't have it available anyway. Since I don't know much about it, I don't go around repeating it blindly like a retard.

There was an old friend in high school that swore to me that the dehydrating effect of alcohol was what fucked you up. I had just finished writing a research paper on how alcohol works and its effects so I spent forever trying to argue with him on this. Despite countless references and the fact that this guy knew I aced the paper, he still wouldn't listen to me!

You don't have to do drugs to be the most stupid breed of people on the planet. In fact many of the smartest guys I know (engineers of various fields mostly) all seem to have a drug of choice.

When you crack your back, you stretch and get something similar to the lightheaded feeling you get when you stand up too fast and get dizzy.

That's all it is. LSD is pretty much totally eliminated from your body by urine excretion in less than 24 hours.

Its not just that these people are ill informed but they believe this bullshit like born again christians believe in the bible  They  refuse to believe otherwise.

The way I handle these situations depending on where I am and who they are, is I tell them to just show me one piece of information online illustrating their point and I will disprove it. Presenting them with a challenge improves your chances of them actually following through. I then let them know, I cant disprove something that has no fact in the first place. Every time they search for it they only find information proving them self wrong.


If I were in your situation I would tell them there are only three active substances in psilocybin mushrooms, name them, explain how only 2 of them are different and only one plays the main roll in the drugs effects and then simply explain how they effect the brain in relation to serotonin. While this last bit of information is irrelevant to strychnine being in the substance itself, it demonstrates your intellectual dominance on the subject and leads them to question them self while other people listening in that are on the fence will side with you.
