Here's an interesting read. Most cops are cool, it's just the small percentage of bad ones that ruin it for everyone. BTW I'm pretty sure nobody who has admitted to being a cop in this thread, actually is.

Come down to the poor areas in LA and youll see the 20-30 minute wait time. Luckily I'm above the 10 freeway, but venture below it and the cops don't give a fuck about who got shot.

My 70 year old uncle was walking down the street, minding his own business, when he was beaten to within an inch of his life (random racial attack).

Who investigated it? Cops.
Who caught the guy who did it? Cops.
Who locked up the guy who did it, so he wouldn't continue committing crimes? Cops.

Yeah it's easy to talk shit but we all know the people in this thread would be calling the cops the second they feel in danger. If you have problems with the law it's probably because you're obnoxious, or a genuine criminal. Never had a problem here and I've been caught doing all kinds of stuff. Once I answered a knock on my door with pipe in hand, and it was a cop who completely ignored the smell and asked about a strange car in my complex's lot. I told her I didn't know anything but I'd keep an eye out, and she left. Another time I got off with a warning for doing 20 over, because I was honest and cordial (and I haven't sped since). Mutual respect goes a long way. If you're one of the very few people who had an encounter with a "bad cop", you have my sympathy.

I'm only here because my son is interested in growing mushrooms, but he swears they're edibles, so it's all good.
I've been reading information on this site and it's really informative.
I'm not looking to bust anyone using mushrooms, but I still have to enforce traffic laws and stuff.

smoking grass is that fucking important to you that you would break the law and risk getting fucked with by the corrupted police officers, than you need to get a life.

I don't fuck with people when I pull them over and they have less than an ounce of pot.  I confiscate it, and sometimes write them a ticket.

But the fact remains, it is illegal, you are breaking the law.

hey check this out, i was pulled over on a dirt road fixing my car stereo. A sheriff car pulls up behind me. I was doing nothing wrong so i thought nothing of it and continued tieing a couple wires together. HAHA next thing i know the pig is at my window and then tell me to put my hands on the steering wheel and not move. He asks me if i was drinking, i say no. He then asks me what i was doing when they pulled up. I said fixing my stereo. He then opens my car door and tells me to get out. I turn and get out and no sooner did i stand up and turn toward him he slams me against the car with his fore arm against my neck. He then starts spitting in my face screaming about lieing to him and that he wanted to know REALLY what i was doing when they pulled up. Barley able to breath much less talk i again tell him i was connecting a speaker wire for my stereo that came loose. He grinds his forearm deeper into my throat and tells me that i was stashing drugs up under my dash or doing something illegal. I tell him NO, i just dropped my girl off at her house and was heading back home when my car stereo went messed up. He finally takes his elbow out of my throat and throws me up against the car belly first, slaps cuffs on me and then puts me in the back seat of his car. While i am in his car, he is in mine searching it for these drugs i was supposedly stashing. Well he finds a survival knife under my seat and tells me he can take me to jail for a concealed weapon so i better tell him where the drugs are or tell hims some info about any friends that smoked "dope". At this point i tell him if he is going to take me to jail then do it cause i know nothing about anything he is talking about. After about a half hour being detained in his car and him trying to get me to talk about anything criminal, he finally lets me out the car and takes the cuffs off and then pats me on the back and says he is gonna give me 3 days to call him or he will get an arrest warrant for the concealed weapon! But that he is going to let me go until then.

Damn man, The pigs don't have already committed crimes to solve? They needed to rough me up and try and find a reason to make up crimes?
Yes they help sometimes when you need them, but they create more bullshit then do good anymore!

If you get pulled over, turn off your car, if it's night turn on your interior lights, put your hands on your steering wheel, and wait for instructions. I'd be a little paranoid too if I was a cop and I walked up on someone fiddling around under the dash. These are people who have to consider being shot at as a real possibility. Make them comfortable and they'll return the favor.

I pulled off the main road to adirt road to fix my stereo.
The pig then rolled up on me with just head light on

The right of the persons to be secure, fuck if the cops feel secure.  The constitutional framers knew cops would be fucking dicks like they always were (though at the time the cops weren't the same thing, but the law applies to modern day).

That's really to bad, and I am sorry you feel like you were mistreated.  While I tend to agree with #16, I do know that there ARE bad cops out there.  I just want to stress that bad policemen are a very small minority.  And it's that small minority that gets all the attention and makes all police officers look bad.

Police have a VERY stressful job.  Every time they stop someone, they are risking their lives.  They do not know who or what is in that car that they are stopping.  If anything at all looks suspicious, it usually is.  Some police cannot handle the stress, and even once they do find that there is no threat, they continue behaving as if there is.  But again, this is a small minority.

Treat the police well, do exactly as you would want someone to do if you were a policeman and had to this kind of thing every day.

Does your city have an internal affairs department in the police?  Or even an inspector general?  Try and get a badge number if you are unfairly harassed and report it next time.  Most of what police do is on camera.

Although I very much appreciate you being a chill cop, you gotta understand that your brothers in blue just ain't like you.  The past five years have each broken the previous one's record for pot arrests, the vast, vast majority for simple possession.  No matter what side you fall on, you have to admit that is a ridiculous waste of time, money, and cop hours.

Either a FUCKload more people smoke pot than we think, or a lot more cops are douchebags than you think.  Probably somewhere in between.
Human history is filled with fucked up laws, hell, remember just a few years ago when it was an arrestable offense to stick your dick in a consenting person's ass?
