If for some reason you haven't played VII that will keep you entertained until your PS3 is back from the shop.  Also try:
Ico
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
THPS 3
Devil May Cry
Okami    <------------If you haven't played this one do yourself a favor and get it ASAP
Soul Calibur
Ratchet and Clank games
all the MGS games

Not too many stand out FPS on the PS2... Timesplitters is really fun.  Killzone is one that is underrated because it was over hyped.  Someone mentioned Black as well.  Check those out if your a FPS junkie.

I must not Fear. Fear is the mindkiller . Fear is the little-death that
brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and
through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. ONLY I WILL REMAIN.

And Castlevania: SotN may be for PS1, but is still on my list of best games ever.

I watched my cousin beat that game with 200% completion, I have to say it was the best video game viewing experience of my life.

Playstation 2 games:
"Black" -fps fun
"Shadow Colossus" -its alright, didnt get to finish it
"Mark of Kri" - Excellent third person sword play and good stealth
"SSX Tricky" - How can you not like this game?
"Metal Gear Solid 2/3" - Story driven gameplay...in a sense..MSG2 very well done this game is a excellent ride!
"Killer 7" - One of my all-time favorites, best enjoyed at 4:20 pm/am MUST PLAY
"Gran-Tourismo 4" - Why bother with the third? The fourth one packs a lot more, try racing your friend on the snow tracks with off road tires on the 4x4's, very fun!
"Soul Caliber 2/3" - Fun fun fun button pressing

As far as RPG's go, I'm not too sure, I can only play a select few RPG's. *cough* chrono cross/trigger *cough*

Nice shake! RPG's...ok im going to have folks laughing at me, but anyways. All FF's (my gf plays these), Radiata Stories was cute for what it was (she fucking loved it!), i finished Fallout a while back. The Baldurs gates, and the Champions of Norrath. Playing Suikoden 3 now, fun...One i had a GREAT time playing....(flame time!!!!) Kingdom Hearts!! The Fatal Frames are good, the SGMT's are good, Personas are good (fucking JPop!).

I do have to say this: I didnt grow up gaming...had a Nintendo, sucked at it! Bought the PS2 in winter 01, only played sports games. My gf was bored one day, and said what games do you have. Needless to say, the only thing non sports was GOW 1 & 2. She asked me to play 1 and she fucking loved watching. We know have over 100 games for PS2. I know everyone has new 360's and PS3's, but i have to say we've payed maybe $600-700 for all those games. We wear Gamestop and ebay the fuck out!

I can recommend quite a few games, pretty much every genre! Feel free to ask, even if you think my tastes sucks! Oh yes, we will have the new shit, but tell me you get more bang for your buck than us!!!
