First two paintings
    #11038749 -

First one was just to get a feel for the brush, the second i wanted to get some sleep, but then went for it.

from this photo i took a few years ago. The cat had to be put down after i gave her to my brother, maybe i'll give him the painting.

I don't see the relevance.
Art is about personal expression, output.

Not about classes.

I've never taken a painting class, but there was one art class in high school that involved a few still life, one painted, one pencil, some perspective drawings, but nothing major.

I've been watching painting shows for years though, but finally just went and got the basics. At walmart the total was like $45.

that cat looked really cool at first, but then i tried to add a few black spots in the fur, and it got really messed up, so that is the product of fixing it a few times. I thought the first attempt was the best cause it had the most diversity.

It seems like the more you paint the more you mess something up.

Tis tru, dat. It's called over-working. As oxymoronic as this might sound, it takes a lot of work to keep things fresh and primal.

yeah, that's a good point.  It's much easier to muck something up than to keep it minimal and sexy.

i love the cat painting.
i am also a part time artist\musician.
what paint do you prefer(oils? acrylics?)
i was always partial to acrylics because of their fast drying time.
but oils allow for more blending. anyway
lookin good keep it up

It's amazing that they could train that cat to dance like that. It's a catchy tune too!

Like i said, this is my first real attempt. I was thinking about acrylic, but figured oil was a good place to start. I tried a little with water color but not more than a day of frustration.
