Re: OBAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA [Re: Coaster]

please explain how having public health care option will lower a public
health care option since medicare/medicaid are both publicly funded

why not just rehab the existing shit that we have as opposed to putting
gross limitations on the shit, "you make $7/yr too much to be covered
under medicare" "I'm sorry, in order for your children to have coverage
you'll have to burden the system as well", "we cant apprve you, you still
have assets you could sell in order to pay for medical expenses"

having competition always lowers costs and increases quality
there are too many people not being covered and by covering them
we will have preventative care which lowers costs
and we will make it all easy to access for doctors so that will also lower costs

Alternatively it lowers costs and cuts overhead.  Example:  Wal-Mart + U.S. Healthcare.

wal-mart, they eliminate competition and sell a shoddy product
the 'formula' cant be said for medicine, hell it doesnt even apply
to products any more

are we to expect that prices will drop, most hospitals will still be
privately owned, also keep in mind that if 45 million americans dont
have private health care that means 265million americans do, with 43
million being on medicare and another 53 million people were enrolled in
medicaid, it seems we have a surplus of insured people

maybe you shouldnt listen to obamas numbers any more

Not only do we have mediocre health care,  but a very large percentage of our GDP (compared to other countries) goes to pay for that mediocrity.

WTF are you talking about, we have socialized medicine, it's failing in
the US and here you are talking about needing more, dozens of state
funded hospitals in california alone have closed their doors in the last
5 years because they cant afford to stay open, now that cali if bankrupt
how many more will close, we have more than 100 million citizens
receiving public insurance through programs like medicare, medicade and
local programs like Peach Care in georgia, 100 million... what was the
population of canada again? 33 million, so we have 3x as many people
receiving US 'socialized' healthcare than canada even has people

US population of the US = 300million
US Population not receiving private insurance coverage = 45million
US Population receiving Govt insurance benefits = 98million
US Population that thinks Obama needs to learn math = Pris

now that you're understanding that medicare and medicaid are governemtn
run programs, why piss away billions more to establish a new system when
the old one simply needs to be updated

So are you suggesting that we just lower the Medicare age limit to 0?

I wouldn't be against that considering most people on Medicare think it's a pretty good system.

I guess you've been missing the whole thing about MEDICAID, that for
people under 65, they put income and asset restrictions on the shit,
they steal your shit after you die leaving your family high and dry even
though you already paid for it in taxes , what should we expect with the new system that's being proposed

Quote:
Estate Recovery and Liens
Under Medicaid law, following the death of the Medicaid recipient a state must attempt to recover from his or her estate whatever benefits it paid for the recipient's care. However, no recovery can take place until the death of the recipient's spouse, or as long as there is a child of the deceased who is under age 21 or who is blind or disabled.

While states must attempt to recover funds from the Medicaid recipient's probate estate, meaning property that is held in the beneficiary's name only, they have the option of seeking recovery against property in which the recipient had an interest but which passes outside of probate. This includes jointly held assets, assets in a living trust, or life estates. Given the rules for Medicaid eligibility, the only probate property of substantial value that a Medicaid recipient is likely to own at death is his or her home. However, states that have not opted to broaden their estate recovery to include non-probate assets may not make a claim against the Medicaid recipient's home if it is not in his or her probate estate.

In addition to the right to recover from the estate of the Medicaid beneficiary, state Medicaid agencies must place a lien on real estate owned by a Medicaid beneficiary during her life unless certain dependent relatives are living in the property. If the property is sold while the Medicaid beneficiary is living, not only will she cease to be eligible for Medicaid due to the cash she would net from the sale, but she would have to satisfy the lien by paying back the state for its coverage of her care to date. The exceptions to this rule are cases where a spouse, a disabled or blind child, a child under age 21, or a sibling with an equity interest in the house is living there.

Whether or not a lien is placed on the house, the lien's purpose should only be for recovery of Medicaid expenses if the house is sold during the beneficiary's life. The lien should be removed upon the beneficiary's death. However, check with an elder law specialist in your state to see how your local agency applies this federal rule.

What percentage of the 50% of America's that do have private health insurance, have adequate coverage?

Most health insurance that comes with being employed at an hourly rate fucking blows. And you have to spend a pretty hefty percentage of your monthly earnings to go to the doctor, or to get dental work done.

Now that I'm understanding? Please ... I was either correcting your mistake, or your misunderstanding. You're the one who said that 250 Americans had private health insurance.

obama said it was 45 million that had no private insurance

simple math, the population of the US is 300,000,000
Obama says that 45,000,000 people have no insurance coverage

a little work with a calculator shows that to be 15%, w can venture further and see that 45 million taken away from 300 million is a mere 255 million

so we can conclude that 15% is far less than 50%

as for adequate coverage
