so.. weather here was really bad..

did anybody get a glimpse of the red planet last night ?
it was said that we would be able to see it almost as big as the moon..

i read up on a bunch of articles calling it a hoax... but im still curious.

Mars will never look as big as the moon, its too far away.  (Unless it gets hit by something and changes its orbit.)

I saw it a few nights ago, and it wasn't exceptionally large. I also read into this and found it to be a hoax.

im not trying to argue this since it already happened (or didnt)

but mars needs not be hit by something , .. its orbit is already fucked up.. and when it comes to a certain spot in its orbit it gets drastically closer to us.
also.. mars is much bigger than our moon.. around 7 times bigger..

Its orbit is fucked up?

I just looked and it appears that mars has twice the radius of the moon, so it would need to be two moon distances from us to appear the size of the moon.  The closest mars is to us in its current orbit is 50 million km and it would have to get to .6 million km to appear as big as the moon.  Thats not happening without a serious impact (or very far in the future when orbits cant be predicted)
