You are reacting the way I react to 'philosophy'.  And this type of science is almost at the realm of philosophy.

The difference is that in 'hard science', you can eventually expect some type of practical application.  Not in your lifetime maybe.

'Philosophers' produce nothing but more philosophy.

I agree with everything you say until you throw this in there

How about this:


2,000 years ago, the average man woke up, worked and hunted, and went to bed with spirituality.  His life revolved around spirituality (religion, prayer, etc.)

Today, most people don't give one thought to spirituality at all.

Now, if you are pursuing science as a spiritual quest, then yeah, you live in the best times.

But I say, overall, there's no question 'spirituality' in the sense most people interact with it, has been attenuated significantly by the scientific process.

I mean people still pray their car starts on a cold morning and whatnot, but it's not the same has praying for your family to eat or contacting another realm to heal sickness.

There's no question about that and I find it hard to believe that someone won't acknowledge it.

There is actually a lot of 'interiority' that has been explained by science.  Basic brain chemistry has only been understood for some decades, and treatments/applications for only a couple of decades.

But being on a modern regimen of phsyciatric drugs is now blase, and it WILL change your view on the world and how you interact with it on the most basic level.  This formerly was purely the realm of the spiritual.
