he found cub tracks in that one aswell

he found a really dry patch under some pine tress in the middle of the snow and camped on it,i was thinking it was where a bear sleeps maybe

theyd dry the ground and whatever they were laying on wouldnt they?

ya i'm like with him till he gets to a 1,000 ft rock face with tiny ass vines handing down lol i weigh 245 no damn way those vines would hold me he's all of 175 lmao oh yea my arms are burning shit i'd be laying bleeding after falling 10 ft and then be screwed lol

so yes don't do what he does... but u can learn what you can and cannot touch or eat in each region... there's plenty to learn from both and hell it's great entertainment just not very realistic on grylls part

While I agree with your theory about how to obtain the skills, Les does do a great job teaching some basic and somewhat obscure skills in many of his shows.  Bear on the other hand is a complete dumbass, he takes way to many risks that should never be attempted in a real survival situation ( I do watch both though, Bear may be a dumbass but it's entertaining to watch him risk his live with tactics he's learned in the British Special Forces).

les for sure can teach you how to make a fire

or gut a salmon or somthign you should have already been able to learn in a book.

theres nothign like nads on expereince. thats what learning is.


i understand the entertainment factor in both shows

and iv watched both many times

its just waaaaaaay to candy ass for me

Survivorman NO DOUBT! Les is, in my opinion, much more realistic. Man vs. Wild is all show. Another thing, Les does all his own camera stuff. No crew or anything which Im sure makes things MUCH more tedious

Don't forget beyond just surviving alone for a week in the wilderness, with not but a few camp tools he likes to test and an energy bar (and occasionally some handy wreckage or simulation materials), he is also carrying about 50 extra pounds of cameras and tripods and microphone attachments. Which if he doesn't keep safe and intact becomes a complete waste of his time and energy (no tape no show).

Anyway you slice it hes doing a lot of work, and I would much rather be lost in the amazon with that guy than with someone who will only show you the nastiest survival methods.(Though I'm sure its probably not his suggestion it certainly reflects on my perspective of his methods :smile: )

Les Stroud is a cool guy,

Bear Grylls is insane, in a bad way.

Also - Les Stroud survived a YEAR in the forest with his family, not everyone can do that. Oh - he filmed that also.

i always liked les

but again liek you said

he pretty much just has to chill in the woods or in the snow for a week and worry about his shots and his equitment

he has pretty much a weeks worth of time to waste by himself, filming himself.

somtimes he captures some cool shit. but its pretty damn false to a degree. you have t understand what im saying here


i understand its a stupid tv show
