Survivorman.
    #5309204 - 02/16/06 11:25 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

Anyone seen this show on Discovery Science channel?  I think I've seen everyone right now.

The guy is a total badass.  He goes off into a desolate place on the world and tries to survive on his own for week.  He usually just a brings a handy-tool,handful of other equipment, and his camera gear.

He films it all himself, so he's out there, totally alone.  Just builds little shelters for himself and makes fire out of what he has.  He usually has to hike quite a bit of miles to get to his rescue point, where his crew will pick him.

Sweet show.  Hope they come out with some more soon.

Yea, its a really good show. I liked the last one a I saw. He was strnded down in the jungle in Costa Rico. That guy is fucking nutzm eating lizards a dn stuff. He smart as hell though. I made fire, after watching him and taking notes on his mehtod, I went and tried it and it was golden.

The one in the desert was cool too, he was cooking and eating scorpions.. Ate some raw too.

I wonder where he learned his survival skills.

I've seen commercials for this on the DC but haven't caught an episode yet. I'm a big fan of Going Tribal right now and this looks just as awesome. Has he ever been in real trouble and had to be rescued? This kind of man vs. nature drama is so much more compelling than any other reality TV bullshit.

But, hell yea, that show fuckin' rocks. Makes me wonder if I had the balls and skill to try that.

I don't think he's been in any real life threatening danger yet. He always seems to pull through.

He's damn smart when it comes to field survival, so he knows what he's doing. The guy barely eats too. I couldn't do that kind of labor on that little of calories.

That one where he was in the desert was nuts! He hiked to try and find a stream, and ended up hiking a few miles but forgot his camera equipment! He had to hike all the way back to his previous camp, grab his gear (55+ pounds of camera gear alone), then hike back to the stream to set up a new camp. Fucking crazy.

That's what gets me, he's not just worrying about survival. He also has to get plenty of footage to cut together an interesting show with multiple camera angles, long shots and other clever compositions. I still can't believe he does everything on his own. Very impressive.

Yea, he pretty much has to multiply everything twice.  He has to set up the camera, walk to get the shots, then walk back, get the camera, and then continue walking.

One tough fucker.

My favorite is where he went into the Canadian Arctic in the middle of winter.  That has to be right of passage.  Once you do that, you're officially a man in my book.

yeah, i remember that. I don't know how he can work that hard, his diet consists of sit he can forage for.

In the last one I saw he was running from plate sized tarantulas and crow sized mosquitoes. All night long. Can you imagine spending the night in an uninhabited south American jungle. Think of all the cooky noises you would hear all night long, couple that with extreme fatigue. ssh. boy, I wouldn't relish that.

Yeah survivorman rocks...dude is a complete badass. I've been watching it on the science channel ever since it started, and now they are putting it out on discovery, but they have cut it down to 30 minutes I think...lame...
