WBS Prices

I wanted to see what everyone was paying for WBS, to make sure I'm getting a good deal. I found some at WalMart, I think it was $14 for 40lb.

Best deal on the best quality seed(almost zero 'floaters') I have ever found is the 4 lb bags of 'bird basics' bird ration at wally world.  1.67 a bag.  That's 16.70 for a 40 lb bag for the tards.  I buy it for 3 reasons.
1.  I don't really have room for a 40 lb bag of bird seed.
2.  Of all the brands I've tried, this one has the least floaters and the most actual seed, as well as the fewest sunflower seeds.
3.  4 lbs is exactly enough for 7 quart jars filled to the correct level, and my PC does 7 quarts at a time.  One bag per soak, per PC, and my 64 qt glovebox manages 7 jars plus a grain master and tools perfectly.

Off season, my Family Dollar store has the best price on smaller bags- 8 pounds. But they almost double it during bird season.

The topic was regarding WBS prices.  The OP was asking about good deals.  All politics aside, the deal is good.  I buy other materials at other places as well and I also disagree with their business practices, the fact remains, that if one wants to procure cheap, quality WBS, it is available here at said price. :peace:

The Kroger brand wbs have been doing good for me. It was like 8.99 for 20lbs.

Note the "In b4". I wasn't commenting on the store, just on this Forum. I don't really care about the poilitcs of it either.

But out of respect for a senior member here, I don't buy mycology supplies at WM.
Really I don't buy anything there anymore except some food items (grown in USA). Rice, beans, bulk stuff like that.

And I really can't blame anybody for picking up that 40 pound bag of Pennington's.

Fair enough.  I have to ask though, do you think walmart has something against RR or do you think it might be because that particular video is not likely to move enough units for wal-mart to carry it?  I'm not dogging the vids.  I think they are great, but I also think it's a silly reason to boycott a store.  Shall we go ahead and boycott Ace, Lowe's, Blockbuster, Netflix, etc., until we can get the LGM video series at any local store which might also unknowingly carry a mycology supply or two?  Do you think they would miss our business?  Or even see a correlation?  I woulda just said it's political/economical, haha.

they pay their employees shit. half of wel-fare people work for wal-mart. My g/f dad stocks at night there...He looks like shit and if he works less than 40 hours a week they take away his insurance. Then give it back 6 months later, only to take it away again... If they find out he works at Albertsons too they will fire him, and vise-versa w/ Albertsons..Even if he doesnt work there anymore they would fire him cause he did...

Oh, I dunno. He seems to think it's because it's union-made. I think it's because its a niche market.
Either way, it's no big deal. If they sold big bags of rye berries, I'd be conflicted. But they don't.

(I don't like McD's for food reasons. But I can enjoy a shake if I'm there with somebody.)

Back to WBS, I sure would like to find that 40 lb Pennington's someplace besides WM. :sad:

He doesn't have to work there any more than anyone else has to shop there, and if you disagree with that statement, and say that he has to, then you might as well say that people have no other choice than to shop there.  For me, some of the stuff they have there is exactly what I need, and I don't feel the need to go drive around and waste time AND BURN GAS to hunt down a local USA mom n pop, which isn't even open when I want to shop, to pay more for the same shit.  Like I said, I'm no big fan of wal-mart, and I realize it's all 3rd rate junk, but I'm also not some nationalist crusader out to convert everybody like some tweaked out Jehovah witness pounding on the door at 8 am on sunday morning.  I work hard for my money and I shop where I want.

Thats 1 of his 3 jobs... Trust me, thats all he can do is stock food. He doesnt have a choice. Its either there or the other food places, which in fact he is actually working at all of them, i bet he gets maybe 3 or 4 hours of sleep a day. His wife hasnt worked in over 24 years cause of her OCD. I want to kill her, literally.
