Is seeing halos, starbursts around lights common?

I've seen them for as long as I remember, so I always assumed they were normal.. but now I've seen them shown as
side effects of laser eye surgery ( http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik-pupil-size.htm ). I wear glasses
so maybe that has something to do with it, they're there with them on or off.
They are way more noticeable in low light, almost annoyingly so..

I'm curious if people without glasses see them or only those with glasses and if they go away with them
on or if it's associated with something else(or if it's normal, but somehow now I doubt it now.)

I see that stuff too. Or sometimes I'll see random colored shapes and spots floating around.
I've seen if for as long as I can remember. I wear glasses too, but I lost them a year or so ago and never got them replaced.

i hadn't even noticed they were gone til you mentioned it!

maybe contacts made them go away?

It depends, it's pretty hard to correct for astigmatism.

I have a super-bad one in my left eye and always see halos around lights.  And driving at night, lights are always smeared down and to the right.

My clock radio at night as well.

My contacts correct it somewhat, but not very much.

But mine is really bad.  If yours isn't very strong you can likely get it fixed.

Makes LASIK very difficult, also.

toric contact lenses corrected the astigmatism i had in one of my eyes

didn't take forever to do it either. maybe a couple of years, less maybe.

At an eye exam the doctor didnt prescribe me any toric lenses and I was like uhhh I need toric lenses for one of my eyes, i have astigmatism. he said not anymore

is astigmatism what causes my vision to never seem completely clear/concrete?
it doesn't look blurry with glasses, but if I focus on something specific to analyze
it my eyes seem to defocus or something. its kind of like seeing double but more subtle

hard to describe, but I just now realized how annoying it is

Ha, guys I just went to the eye doctor yesterday and apparently I'm seeing colors because there's a ton of fluid in my spine that's building up and putting too much pressure on my brain.

I got a needle the size of my arm in my back.
I think I would rather have the astigmatism haha.

i had an astigmatism and saw halos and rings around lights, and my vision was horrible, glasses since age 9. then i got lasick eye surgery and it was really bad (halos and such), like blindingly for like 3 weeks while my eyes healed. i see 20/20 now, with just the natural halos a glare will give when looking at a light.
