watch the video, and check out his LAST one. it's pretty abstract. i like his style, but feel pity for him. i wonder if his art helped enhance his schizophrenic state? i also wonder if it helped him cope at all?

I watched this one too.

Apparently,his wife was dying of cancer and he only started to paint cats to cheer her up. He also belonged to a cat society and another cat club.

By the time he went mad,he was living with his sisters and they couldn't take his violent mood swings so had him committed.

He died in an institution but it was supposed to be peaceful and there were cats around :thumbup:



Edit:He was chairman of the National Cat Club.

OP thanks for this thread, that's some amazing stuff. I would honestly pay big bucks for a series of prints of these paintings.

I could imagine dishing them out and telling everyone the story behind them and everyone being all "insightful" because they have uncovered the workings behind a schizophrenic mind.
