an MJ experiment
    #10821019 -

I had an idea on how to get an MJ plant to look like this. I've seen a male MJ plant produce pollen sacks at about that height (10 inches, it was germinated during the flowering season) but of course, who wants that?

I was thinking if one set up a small little grow space with a small HPS (150) and vegged an MJ seedling to about 6 or 7 inches and then changed the lighting schedule to 12/12, it could start flowering and you'd have a small nice little dank plant. of course you'd have a few of these.

I don't know much about MJ so any input would be cool.

Hmmm... maybe force flowered with GA3?

Or perhaps artificially stunted with 10% ethanol in the water... they've started doing this for amaryllis and paper-whites so that the blooms don't get so fall that they fall over.  The right solution might be able to stunt MJ like that.

Or maybe just some pro breeding.

I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

That was probably a cutting that someone put under 12/12  when it was only a couple of inches tall. That would keep it nice and short. Good genetics are a big help too, you're not going to get a plant like that with some random sativa.

if you want one that small you would have to get autos or trim it down loads because even if you go 12/12 from seed it will grow much bigger than that.

good luck

it's either a clone that was put directly into flowering, or a (possibly stunted) lowryder.  my bet is clone.

so with the lowryder strain of seeds, a plant like this can be grown in normal conditions?

(btw i looked at prices for those lowryder seeds there really expensive, and that plant doesn't look like it has much chance to take cuttings off of. what if you cross pollinated it with a random male, would you get more lowryder seeds?)

EDIT: so it is easily possible to produce a plant like this from a small flowering cutting?

you cant realy clone off of a plant with autoflower genetics. There really isnt enough groth before it goes into flowering.

sorry, i forgot to mention, i mean off any plant that is in the flowering process. not just a lowryder. a bag seed plant for instance.

EDIT: i know this sounds like serious plant mutilation... but, what if you chopped off the top cola of a developing plant, is it possible to root this if you leave some stalk with it? i most likely would not do this, but if it is possible i would do it in the name of research.

you dont want to take cutting off a flowering plant, once the buds start comin the scissors go away unless trimming leaves that are blocking light from the nugs.

hmm, okay then. what if the cutting was taken at the very first sign of flowers being produced at the top of the plant. and then cuttings were taken from lower branches that have not yet produced their first little hairs.

take, say a 3 inch cutting or smaller, root it, and pop it under a 12/12 HPS.

To be honest anything you trim off a plant in flower will stunt the growth for a few days. More leaves more energy it can produce.

and even a small cutting will grow big. You could top it a few times but would take just that little bit longer to flower but should get a small compact little plant.

Your best bet for propagation is to have a male pollinate a female in a different box/room from your all-girls room. I'm pretty sure that Autoflowering is a recessive trait...so crossing two autoflowering strains will give you autoflowering crosses.

Just train your plant (tying it over) and top it a few times during veg and flower it under a mesh of some sort to keep it low.  It's called a screen of green (scrog) and been done thousands of times on every cannabis forum out there. You'll be able to focus on one plant and get way higher yields (4-6 ounces a plant not uncommon if you have decent genetics) than messing with a bunch of smaller plants.

Here is an example (not my pic)

My thoughts exactly. Too symmetrical for lowryder.
