Mycelium but no Mushies?

So I live in Georgia, and from what I hear the best place in Georgia to find mushrooms (mainly weiliis). My problem however is, despite how much it rains I just can't seem to find any. I've looked in compost piles etc and I constantly find mycelium but never any mushies.

Can anyone help me out, am I wrong in thinking that where theres mycelium theres mushies?

Also is there any way I can take a BRF substrate and put some of the mycelium I find in it to colonate the jars?

Not necessarily. 

Most of the fungi that grows in the woods has never been identified because it does not create fruiting bodies, so the only way to tell what it is to sequence the DNA.  Endophytic fungi is a good example of this.

I believe that Georgia does have mushrooms however.  Thousands of species.  I guess you have not been at the right place at the right time.

Something would grow, but that thing would be very likely to be a contaminate.

Why would you want to cultivate random mycelium?

It would be more than likely to contaminate, it would certainly contaminate and it would be a job for an experienced mycologist to "run" the mycelium away from said contaminates.In fact you would need a sterile environment to do a mycelium to grain transfer from sterile culture because you would introduce air born contamination to the grain just opening the container with the sterile grain to put in the mycelium. But this is the wrong forum for this discussion. Sorry everybody

It has to do with finding and cultivating wild mushrooms.  The discussion is appropriate for this forum.
