A lot of people hate on trance music, and Tiesto in particular. I'm not exactly sure why.
As I definitely do not prefer trance over other things like dubstep and house, etc. There is a time and place for trance. I like it at certain times.

That said, one of the most intense musical experiences of my time involved Tiesto.
It was at Ultra Music Festival in Miami in 2008, and he was the last set on the main stage of the first night.
I had eaten about 6 beans and 3 hits of acid, and there was a helicopter flying around and a bridge in the night sky in the background.
It was fucking amazing.

It came to a point where I wasn't aware of anybody around me anymore, just the lights and the music.
It's hard for me to explain, but those of you that understand know what I mean. Nothing like it, really.

i like trance, and i know tiesto is good, but i don't like his music. i like stuff a little more hardcore/industrial like infected mushroom.

Neither do I really. My tastes are across the board really, I prefer Armin van buuren over tiesto and I love astral projection while tripping.
