How do I seal rubber injection port to metal lid?

So I've got some rubber injection ports and I'm attempting to make self-sealing (metal) lids.

I'm wondering what I should use to seal the rubber to the metal lid? Caulk? Silicone? Or would it be ok to just plug the rubber port tight into a small hole?

I've used the search engine but can't find anything on what is used to seal the port to a metal lid.

A dab of silicon helps the plug slide through better. :wink:

I would seal it with some silicone.
