Trader Joe's Organic Hemp Protein Powder
    #10478414 -

I got a thing of it because I know that regular whey protein is missing some essential stuff that is good for our bodies, and I know how chock full of omega 3 and 6 acids that the hemp protein powder is but...

...every time I consume this stuff, it makes me really nauseous for over an hour, and I get a bad anxiety attack.

What the fuck?  Has anyone else experienced something like this from hemp protein powder, or more specifically the Trader Joe's kind?

Hemp protein?  Is that a joke? lol.  Get yourself some whey, vegetable protein is known for being subpar in every way.  Not only being a meh protein, but also having MANY side effects in people.

Not really, hemp protein is ideally fit for human consumption.. having the proper ratio of amino acids and being very easy to digest.
It is a nutritional powerhouse.  Methinks your body is not used to it?
Or it could be that you are consuming just the protein powder i.e-processed.
Try hemp seeds in their more natural state. Maybe something is missing.

Hemp protein is actually a very healthy and complete protein.

OP, are you using a blender to make sure it's all blended well?

bbl337, I have whey protein.  But hemp protein powder provides a lot of nutrients, fatty acids, and minerals that whey just can't compare to.

Not much beats hemp when it comes to omega fatty acids.  Hemp craps on fish, and I think there are only a handful of things better than hempseed, one of them being flax seed.

One handful of hemp seed a day provides all the protein and essential oils that an adult needs.

It doesn't say I need to, it just says to mix two tablespoons with a half cup of water or milk.  I do that, and then I stir it, but I constantly have to swish it or else it forms this disgusting grainy mush on the bottom of the glass.

It really does. You could live off it, quite healthily.. although I wouldn't recommend it as variety is key.

Sometimes radical changes and shifts in diet can cause what you describe, it's temporary.

Okay... I went from not exercising at all for two years to working out again and trying to eat better.

I lost 15 lbs last semester (I'm only 130 and I'm 6 foot tall) from stress and not eating right, because I'd be on campus all day.

But now I'm trying to gain some good muscle weight, exercise, and eat right.

So hopefully this will pass soon.  I didn't want to give up on the powder, but if it keeps giving me anxiety like this, I don't think I can handle it.
I've always had problems with anxiety, but they don't really manifest any more, at least not frequently.  But I have noticed that with this powder, they show up in force.

That's probably a sign that you need to deal with the source of the anxiety.

I don't think that's possible at this point.

I had an episode of I guess they would call it "early onset mental illness" when I was 12.

I was really sheltered, and when I got to middle school, kids were so cruel and torturous to me that I had anxiety attacks every day for 3 months straight.  I became somewhat paranoid and mildly delusional.  It really felt like a bad shroom trip, continuously, for 3 months.  I was at a preppy private school too, so the work load was immense, especially for a middle schooler, and the stress was out of this world.  College doesn't even compare.  I got maybe 6 hrs of sleep a night for the 3 years I was there, you'd literally get home, and work on homework until midnight, to get up at 6 and repeat.  Plus, I was just hitting puberty, so my hormones made everything worse.
After that I became depressed and suicidal for years.

At this point, I don't really think I can do anything for the anxiety.  It fucked me up in the head at an early age, and now I am what I am.
I still have trust issues, I still have trouble feeling legitimate emotions, and self esteem issues, trouble holding my head up while I walk, etc.

Everyone I know in real life thinks I'm a really confident semi-douchebag, but in reality I'm probably ten times more terrified than they are.

Real hemp protein powder (can't speak for TJ quality) is possibly the best nutritional food source for your brain and body on the planet.  And in other news it's illegal in the US to grow.

Hmm, that's really weird.

I've got some Hemp's and Whey brand vanilla protein and it's amazing. Tons of fiber and Omegas in it plus 10 grams protein per scoop. Low in sugar yet it tastes great, I drink mine with only water and actually enjoy it. I really have no clue how they did it, maybe you should just try another brand or variety.

It's possible.. believe me.
I know firsthand how crippling a traumatizing childhood can be.
When your body and your brain are getting everything they need, and are healthy.. your mind tries to get healthy too. I know how crippling anxiety can be and how hopeless it can seem, but it exists for a reason - in order to overcome it. It's not some condition that you have to live with for the rest of your life, if you don't want to.

I feel the same way.  I think it stems from the fact that, I don't really love myself, I just think I am as good as I seem to be when stacked up to society's measuring stick.  Luckily, for the way I think, that I am athletic, smart, and good looking, but I know that none of those things really matter, none of them make you deserve anymore respect than anyone else.  Right now I just trying to dive into my problems, accept the past, and working to love myself.

Also, I am doing it in a similar way to you, by weight lifting.  I used to lift 5 days a week, not to get 'big', but to get stronger and more athletic and explosive.  I have started to lift again, and begun trying to set goals and accomplish them.  I may not be able to solve my problems soon, but while I am suffering through the processes of accepting and healing, I might as well be accomplishing things.  Nothing helps the confused and misguided self-esteem better than accomplishing goals that are important to you (except for exctasy or mushrooms)

hey man, really, at least you are a smart guy and are open-minded.  that gives you a light at the end of the tunnel, even if you have too narrow or short sighted tunnel vision to see it...

kinda like what shroomism said, I think that anxiety and insecurity is just an obstacle, not a path in itself...its hard to get yourself out of the negativity, but once you do, ya look back on yourself as such a naive and short-sighted fool, so yeah, the key is to develop faith and hope in yourself, instead of having your thoughts based on comparisons to what society has taught you what it is to be 'successful'

and fuck man, kids are cruel, people are crueler (because they think they are no longer ignorant)... idk what to say besides you are not alone in your problems

We sound like we are in really similar spots.  I totally get your post.

Does E really have the therapeutic effects I've heard about?  I mean, I've heard from countless sources it does, but do you find it helps you?

I've had 3 pills in my desk for almost 2 years, but I've still never tried it.  I'm thinking about trying with my girlfriend sometime soon.

honestly dude, I am a huge skeptic, I do not believe other people until I experience it firsthand, so when I heard about mdma being this wonder drug I brushed it off

Now that I have done it, I think it has more potential than I have even heard about.

I naturally have an instinctual gift of being able to recognize human nature and how it operates.  The first time I rolled I saw how everything I had been doing in my life had been endless amounts of games, and games are un-fulfilling.  I was not pursuing anything worthwhile just trying to distract myself from my unhappiness and my bigger problems.

I have since then had 2 absolutely amazing and reality-shattering experiences on mdma.  Not reality shattering as in a psychedelic trip (yes, they are psychedelic though), but reality shattering as in all my "no" conceptions about myself were forgiven.  I was filled with unbelievable compassion, forgiveness, patience, and acceptance.  I was truly filled with an incredible amount of love and appreciation.  The game playing stopped, I didn't have to continue trying to fit this mold of what I half-heartedly believed to be successful.  I got to my core beliefs and values, having brushed all of the bullshit conditioning out of the way.

MDMA is seriously under-appreciated by its users.  The way 'families' used to spread LSD in the 60's is how MDMA should be treated today.  It is love in a pill, and does not feel like a synthetic 'love' either.

Patience, compassion, acceptance, forgiveness (for anything before or in the future, that anyone could ever do to you or anyone else...you see the reason behind things, how pain in others is caused by irrational and scared behavior in ourselves, yet you are forgiven for this...it just made me truly believe "it's okay"...I felt like Jesus or something, a prophet of love...

MDMA has brought me a few of the most important and most spiritual experiences of my life.  It gently sweeps away the bullshit, and allows ever virtue to shine through; peace, one love, acceptance, compassion, forgiveness, appreciation, clarity, insight...

It has INCREDIBLE therapeutic value.

(also, I edited my previous post to give a little more of my opinion)

I bought some Vanilla hemp milk recently that tastes horrid by itself but it excellent with cereal.

It contains a good bit of protein and has never made me nauseous.

Sometimes I feel I'm having a bit of 'anxiety' that's knotting up in my stomache and then I realize I just need have gas or have to go shit. Although this sounds like it's a wholly different deal.

I did have stomache problems when I first starting drinking hemp protein mixes because I didn't stir it up well (which is why I mentioned the blender).

I'm all for hemp and all, and understand that it contains omega and whatnot, but that doesn't avoid the fact that many people have very negative responses to vegetable proteins
