Car Insurance FTL

So I'm looking to get my car insured here in Florida. Currently it's insured in NJ which is costing $1,800 a year. I don't want to pay such a crazy amount. I'm hoping it'll be cheaper down here.

What's anyone's experience with car insurance companies? Nationwide and especially in Florida. How do I get a cheap rate?

Since I'm forced to have my car insured, I want to have to pay these companies as little as possible even if that means minimum coverage for me.

Any advice?

I pay 50 something dollars a month for my car insurance. If you want cheap car insurance buy a car that's nearly 20 years old, that's what I did.

After a dwi, I know one who was paying $279 a month for two years, only for liability.

Four years later, he was only paying about $70.

Why is insurance so weak on you, are ya young or with bad record?

Might wanna look around a bit, that's pretty high even for FL.

I'm 22 with a mildly bad record. No DUI but in the past 5 years I've had quite a few traffic tickets and a license suspension.

I would be fine with like $100 a month, maybe $120. Any more would pain me to pay. I don't believe in forced auto insurance.

I have a *cough* friend who works my car insurance for me.

Even with TONS of discounts and deals I pay about $130/month.  And thats driving a civic with no driving record whatsoever and being over 25.

I pay $35 a month for minimum coverage on a 1995 conversion van in Michigan. Once I get it changed to Indiana I will be paying slightly less, which will probably be around $25-30 a month.

Just go online and get quotes from the big guys, then poke around the yellow pages and get some quotes from the little guys.
