The simple greenhouse fruiting chamber

Here's an idea for a martha without going overboard with the bells and whistles.  Here's the supplies:
Cool mist humidifier(open to suggestions on brand, model, etc.)
shelving
drip tray for the bottom
plastic drop cloth
timer with 15 minute intervals
ANALOG hygrometer

I've seen all kinds of hose configurations and crap but I would like to skip all that.  I just want to position my humidifier so that the output is going into the chamber, while the intake is facing outside of the chamber.  It seems to me that with the timer dialed in right, and the properly sized and placed exhaust slits, this would take care of humidity as well as FAE.  The goal here is to keep it as simple as possible.  The big questions for me, are:

What brand and model humidifier will take care of this setup?

Can this setup get by with just the impeller type coolmist on a timer?  or is an ultrasonic node inside the coolmist necessary?  Here's a link to the way HippieChick does hers.. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/9601988#9601988

yoiu can make it even simpler by getting rid of the crates and puttin g the humidifier inside your martha.

Not recomended to modify a coolmist so that it pumps mositure in. Doing so will create pressure, which they are not designed to work with. it will burn out the motor pretty quick.


Stick it inside, having it outside isnt going to give you FAE anway. Humidifiers are for humidity not FAE

I've never used a martha but I like the Kaz model humidifier from Vicks. The only problem is you'll have to manually fill it with water every 12 hours but it's a good cool-mist for like $25.99 at most stores. Oh, and remember to buy extra hepa filters for it cause the lint will block air flow after a while.

I beg to differ.  The reason the humidifier is outside is to clear up prime real estate inside for casings, seeing as the whole thing is going to be pretty small anyway.  As for modifying the coolmist, nobody said it was going to be modified in any way.  Hooking a tube to it is what creates the backpressure, which is what you are talking about burning the motor.  As I said already, no hoses.  As for the chamber creating pressue, that won't happen because as I mentioned in the post, there will be exhaust slits in the plastic so that pressure-wise, it would be no more strain on the motor than running it in a bedroom.  Lastly, the whole point of having the INTAKE on the OUTSIDE of the chamber, and the INPUT on the INSIDE of the chamber, is to create a FLOW of AIR using the natural air movement from the humidifier.  Thank you for the input though.  I have thought about and addressed the points you mentioned already.

so that's it?  No other opinions?  I'm going for it.  It's simple as can be so if it doesn't work, then nothing lost.  I'm going to use the ultrasonic fogger inside the impeller humidifier and set them on timers with 15 minute intervals,  I don't see why this won't maintain the necessary conditions.  I figure the only change I might make is getting a tad better timers so I can have smaller intervals if desired when fine-tuning it.  peace.

I'm sure by INPUT, you actually meant 'output'. 

I've often recommended this method for those who feel they need the extra fresh air.  Personally, I just cut slits for FAE.  One thing to watch for though:  Make sure you have a straight up to the ceiling of the greenhouse shot above the output of the cool mist.  They need an unobstructed area or any shelves the mist hits will cause the water to condense and drip back down, making a mess.  Make sure the mist doesn't settle into your trays.  Waterlogged substrates perform poorly.

I did mean to say 'output' actually, lol.  Cool, thanks for the input and extra tips RR.  I hadn't considered how to make sure the path of the mist is straight to the top.  I might just pull the plastic away from the shelf a little on the side that the humidifier is on so that it has a clear shot up the side.  Might have to make a small something to direct the air flow up a little bit but I can deal with that.  Still beats dinking around with hoses in my book.  I would love to hear from hippiechick on the matter as I know she's spent a lot of time perfecting her setup.
