maybe by the end of the century. we need to find a superconductor that works at feasible temperatures. i think the most effective ones we have right now only become superconductors at -200C or so.

What do you guys think of the rest of the energy section in The Present?
It starts on page 191 with:
"We have a gigantic nuclear reactor in the sky, there is no energy shortage."
and ends on page 199 with:
"After we unite the world, we need to put most of our money into down to earth science and pure research to make life safer and better for everyone. Wasting money on things that will not really help us will kill us."

Check it out for yourselves and share your thoughts.
I think the "war on energy" ideas presented in the book is a feasible plan that we could put into effect right now.

I am a regular person and I care about the planet. My wife is a regular person and she cares about the planet. Most all my friends are regular people and they care about the planet.

What qualifies you to say that regular people don't care about the planet? In my experience, that isn't the case.
