Johns Hopkins Mushroom Study

So I live in the Baltimore area in MD.  Johns Hopkins research center and university has been conducting psilocybin sessions for their 9th year now. 

Basically they are administering psilocybin many multiple times throughout a 3 month period and will use cognitive therapy in order to help you to quit smoking.

I called in this morning and it looks like im going to qualify except for one thing, they asked if any of my siblings had any mental disorders and I said that my older brother had type 1 bi polar disorder.  She said that might disqualify me, but she also said after my evalution that I would be a perfect candidate considering my experience with psychoactives.  It seemed to be on a personal level as well, so I'm hoping she can pull some strings and look past some of that bull crap.

What are your thoughts on this study?  Any one in the Baltimore area?

i live in baltimore as well. last year i was part of their marijuana study; they gave me a pot nebulizer with enough for 1 hit a day. i had to take a bunch of tests, and get a catscan, but otherwise it was cool. and they paid me!

Hey ez.

I live in Baltimore, and about 5 of my friends have been a part of this study.

They all give very favorable reviews. One of my friends, an experienced user of psychedelics, says that taking them in a lab controlled environment with friendly staff is the best setting he has ever experienced. No paranoia. Lots of support.

I'm thinking about "getting in on it" myself.

Wow sounds great!  I was going to be in a NIDA research study as well.  They were going to pay me $1,340 to eat ecstacy for 3 days over the course of 3 weeks.  I qualified the first screening which they gave me 70 dollars cash up front, but apparently my hair sample disqualified me and they wouldnt say why.  Maybe too much ecstacy content or something else I dont know.

That's amazing.. I wish I could sign up for these. I haven't seen many in Chicago though.

Yeah, the NIDA research study I saw late at night as a commercial, it took me a year before I was ballsy enough to call.  The commercial was like....

"HAVE YOU TRIED MUSHROOMS OR ECSTASY!? THAN CALL THIS NUMBER!"

And I was like "wow what kind of idiot calls that number, its obviously the cops."

Much to my satisfaction it was NOT the cops, it was actually very nice people willing to pay me to eat 100% synthesized legitimate psycho-actives!

I use to live in Baltimore and once was a patient at Johns Hopkins but not under going kick ass test suck as taking Ecstasy or shrooms :frown:

Wow, if I were a superhero I would seriously consider moving to Baltimore just to take a part of this study.

Research to legitamize psychedelics is going to be key if these compounds are ever to be legalized, since the main arguement from the establishment is that they are unsafe. Being apart of the progressive research would be an honor.

Some of the greatest voices of the psychedelic movement have taken part in scientific studies with hallucinogens (Kesey, Ram Dass, Ginsberg etc).

Do it if you can! Granted if the conditions are safe and the researchers competent.

they do several screenings. over the phone, in person, and medical.

Yeah, its easy getting through the first screen, the medical screening is where it gets complicated. 

They ask you at what time in your life did you use each drug, how often, how much, the last time you did it, and how much you do now. 

Alot of these things go into account, and if you dont qualify, they are not allowed to disclose information as to why.  So they probably have a very narrow range of applicants that they are looking for in terms of past drug history. 

If you used too much or too little of a particular substance, your not applicable. 

I dont think the screenings are 100% efficient in that regard, because I believe that my ability to interpret my thoughts while tripping to someone who is not tripping is pretty good.  And also my intentions for taking hallucinogens and my efficiency to control myself under even the most difficult circumstances.

I rescued my friend who was being raped by someone while I was tripping and had to kick his ass out of the house. 

I've been in the Ithica, NY police precinct on acid after we all got processed for smoking pot in a dorm room.

And I've had to endure a late night back rub from my mom while tripping BALLS because she just felt like coming into my room and telling me how much she loved me because of some fucked up thing that happened to one of her close friends family issues.

Needless to say I'm glad the human brain has a fight or flight process.

Oh the crazy buckets of syrup you can find yourself in when under the influence of psychoactives.  All provide great stories for the grandchildren though.

Anyways I'll have to check out that marijuana study.
