The Stand vs The Swine Flu 2009.
    #10252538 -

If you have not watched The Stand lately, watch it here right now. The parallels between that movie and what is currently happening in the U.S.A, Mexico, and other parts of the world is quite shocking. Here, I'll break down some of the comparisons.

In "The Stand", the virus that kills everyone is suspected to be a new version of Swine Flu, as the radio broadcast in the first quarter of the movie states. In actuality though, the virus is really a bio engineered weapon created on an army base that somehow gets out of control.

In the real world, the virus that is killing people as I write this is being referred to as swine flu by the media, but it is actually a combination of  North American swine flu, North American avian flu, human H1N1 flu and a swine flu strain found throughout Asia and Europe which in retrospect has not killed one pig. This combination of viruses is literally impossible to replicate naturally and according to many virologists it is man made and is a false flag attack that will spread fear so people get vaccinated which will ultimately create the real health problems and help the virus develop immune resistance.

Enjoy the freedom that you're all about to lose and just remember that we're here for a good time and not a long time!

Do explain exactly how this is impossible to occur naturally.

This is outright false. Anyone who has taken a basic genetics class knows how recombinant DNA works, and that viruses recombine and assimilate DNA from other viruses a lot, its precisely how many evolve drug resistant traits.

I was under the same impression at first ,untill I did some research .....it completely possibly to form on its own.

Well, feel free to correct me. I would love to be wrong, but this particular combination is exponentially impossible to have occurred naturally. If you could explain how it would ever occur naturally, then I would be obliged to recant my previous statement. You don't even have to explain it yourself if you wish, just point me to the right website that will help explain to me how these various flu strains all combined to create one strain that isn't even remotely close, in biological terms, to swine flu.

Sorry to be so belligerent, I just have had to deal with a lot of pseudoscience regarding virus transmission lately. Viruses regularly cross species thresholds. In this case, Avian flu probably infected pigs who also had swine flu. This is not hard to happen, considering that pigs are stored next to chicken coops in mass industrial pig farms in Mexico. Once the virus gains cross-species threshold, it likely went back and forth between these animals, and the humans that were exposed to these animals may have picked up a version of the virus while also having influenza type A. Not that unheard of, it IS flu season after all, albeit the end of it.

Genetically, here is what happens...

Bird flu finds a pig, infects it... the virus spreads its genes. It infects a pig cell, emptying its genetic components. OH WAIT! It's a pig, not a bird, so it can't adequately hijack its DNA.

This goes on often, until a bird flu virus infects a pig cell that swine flu has also infected. Whenever swine flu injects its genetic components into a swine cell, it begins to hijack the swine cell's DNA to produce more copies of itself. IF a bird flu virus has also emptied ITS genetic components into the cell, it CAN hijack the DNA because swine flu has paved the way.

The cell acts as a virus factory. Normally, it would only be producing more swine flu viruses. However, since bird flu has also infected this cell, the virus that results and leaves the cell has genetic components of both bird flu and swine flu.

Replay all of this, but instead make it happen with a handler that is infected with human flu.

I stand corrected, I now must apologize for spreading misinformation, but having said that, how would we ever learn if it weren't for people like me? It turns out that my so called facts were wrong, but there is still the possibility that this virus was created in a laboratory.

That's the beauty of science. You're always trying to prove yourself wrong. Even though you stumble across a right answer from time to time, there is often the possibility that that answer will be revised and proven to be wrong as well.

It's called hypocrisy. Having your delusional world view challenged is a painful experience.

Swine Flu: How serious a threat? (BBC)

Some experts are saying that as we are approaching summer, the threat may dwindle. However, it may see a resurgence in autumn.

Read Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond
Great read on lots of topics, but he spends a good bit of time on this very concept. A number of human diseases were originally found in animal hosts, then crossed over. Zoonosis, it's called. Flu, measles, ebola, probably syphilis. Lots of others. Amazing information.

I just believe that anything is possible. That doesn't necessarily make me delusional, even though that most of our beliefs are delusional until they can be tested in a scientific manner and either proven or dis-proven. A perfect example of this is how I thought that my beliefs regarding the pandemic was fact, when in reality I could not have been farther from the truth. Having said that though, that doesn't necessarily rule out the fact that this flu virus could have been made in a lab, it just makes it that much more unlikely that it was made in a laboratory. That is all.

Well, the supposed "scientific knowledge" that I found in regards to this subject was from a biased source, thus rendering it unscientific in the end. That doesn't mean that I have no scientific knowledge though, it just means that the information I did have was wrong.

Take it easy on him guys. I do think he legitimately did not know the science behind the issue. I take Carl Sagan's approach to this... use science as a candlelight in the dark.

Quite true. But if you were going to engineer a super-bug, it wouldn't be flu. It would likely be a variant of Ebola or another hemorrhagic fever.

New strains of flu come out every year, some are worse than others. This is a bad one. Like how summer days are hot, but some are extra hot.
