Re: has anyone heard the school of thought that believes that memories embed themselves in DNA? [Re: Statisticons_win]

DNA in your brain is the same as DNA in your blood is the same as DNA in your dick.

(Unless you have chimerism. But you don't. And that's not what we are talking about anyway.)

yea, I know what dna is, but perhaps the change is localized, and gradually effects the subject of the course of his lifetime.

If you die young then you lose the difference between an old man and your change quantity.

RNA, that is really what controls the specific organs.  I could easily see that changing due to some funky lite pulses

i don't know if that is it.  Cause while I have that game i very rarely ever play it. It seems like i saw it on the boob tube somewhere?

upon second thought, it was the infernal game.

in assassins creed doctors use a man's DNA to take him back to his past to reveal his story as an assassin.  how the fuck can you own this game and not have beaten and mastered it 50 times over?

Better- I work in a hospital.
I can ask MD's or anybody else any kind of random question and get the correct, no-BS answer.

Chimerism is some weird, weird shit. But other than that, all your DNA is the same. Even chimerism won't generally change your DNA, you just get extra (or fewer) chromosomes in some cells.

House MD- meh. I watched the first season, but it went downhill from there.

Your DNA does change slightly through out your lifetime. Mutations are the basis of evolution.

DNA and Evolution

I don't know about memories being stored or pass on in humans, but I have heard that meal worms can learn things by eating other worms.

No, they can't. That comes from an experiment that appeared to show that worms can navigate a maze better after eating other worms that previously ran through it. However, people later realized the worms were just following the deceased worms' scents.

And if any of you believe in this based off Assassin's Creed, then you probably believe that when you die, the darkness in your heart turns into inky black ants that eat hearts.

i am looking.

seems my mind is very adept at picking up tidbits of information and remembering these tidbits without any contextual reference to refer to.

it was in a book somewhere.  Let me track it down.

the idea was that memory or remembering(the process of), is facilitated by superconductivity which lends itself to small burst of light for each actual memory.

If you do find a source for that, let us know.

yeah...that cant be right. memory is the repeated release of glutamate to a certain area, enforcing certain pathways, making it easier for neurons to fire in specific patterns

edit: sorry i dont mean to sound arrogant, thats just what I learned in class

oh well in that case I suggest you start toninte.  such a flawless, fun, awesome game.  it gets old and repetitive after a few times going through it but its def worth playing thru a few times for sure.

I don't think DNA has memories like that, but I do like to view in in the sort of poetic light where as the most complex evolved creature at the moment (due to our supercharged monkey brain) we hold in our DNA the cumulative experiences of all prior life on earth.

The short answer to this is: They don't.

--------------------
"A fascinating thing about the Waorani tribe of northern Ecuador was that 54% of their mortality was due to spearing each other. In fact only two deaths in eight generations were from natural causes. When we pressured them on this they admitted that one of those guys had gotten so old that he was about to die of old age, so they speared him anyway."
