lies..damned lies..and rasmussen reports...

anyone that canvasses rasmussen reports has prolly noticed their polls swinging decidedly to the right in recent weeks.. so much so as to create the impression that rasmussen has been bought out by fixed noise...either that..or else maybe ppl really have reversed all their positions over the last 3 months...its very difficult for me to believe that 58% of the population agrees with dick cheney about the torture memoes...

however..there may be a simpler explanation ..malcontents are more likely to answer polls...last year when the repugs were still in power..rasmussens' polls showed the opposite slant...one rasmussen poll showed 44% support for legalizing marijuana...the actual number is prolly closer to 2%.. but when theres a poll about marijuana..potheads will inevitably be overrepresented amongst the respondents...

to make a long story short..not even the best pollsters can guarantee that their sample is truly representative.. especially when the polls provide an opportunity for a political opposition to make themselves heard...

A well-designed poll can accommodate and adjust for a certain amount of inherent bias. But when the pollsters are selling the info, there's no way to tell what's what.
