Drum'N'Bass (Not Techno)

So, after realizing how amazing loud bass is I've set out to find some music that can do that well, and fits my musical tastes. I'm not really sure what I've been looking for even exists, but if it does let's hope one of you can point me in the right direction. Anyways, do any of you know of any artists, or tracks that focus mainly on drum and bass, not techno, but just jamming or some freeform. Feel free to offer any other suggestions as well.

Check out the Bong-Ra albums New Millenium Dreadz and Warrior Sound. The Drum&Bass Arena is a good place to sift through a gradient of styles until you find the sound you're looking for.

I recommend the D&B arena mostly because of the wealth of free material, I find that I only like a small portion of the stuff I find there. Personally I like the flow on more low key productions like Common Raven's show on wruv.

The dubcasts (my favorite podcast) on http://www.dub.com are outstanding for many bass rich genres.

subfm is the shit. wedge is a monster.
dnb is deader than dead. it hit it's peak 8 years ago and hasn't recovered since. probably will never reemerge as a legitimate music genre in itself. it has done good things tho, helping to formulate dubstep was an excellent by-product of dnb influences.
your best bet is to find mixes and tunes from 1997 to 2001. might wanna check out a mix cd release by dieselboy called "the sixth session" (or "6ixth session" as it's also spelled), because dnb died off not but 2 years after this cd came out. this was it's final moment. i think when "the messiah" came out, that was a wrap for the whole genre. everything afterwards that came out quality wise is hidden few and far between a boatload of mediocrity.
there's all sorts of subgenres inside of dnb itself as well. there's techstep, jumpup, tearout, wobble, neurofunk, soulful rollers, clownstep (seen as a derogatory term among fans but blatantly the most popular genre of dnb).
artists to check out:
technical itch ed rush & optical fierce bad company decoder konflict (aka - kemal & rob data) <--- probably the best ever stakka & skynet dylan usual suspects ram trilogy dillinja
that list should set you straight.
