filling scripts
    #9868474 -

So ten days ago I called my Doc to get one of my two prescriptions refilled. Today I had an apt. with him and he filled out another script for the one I got ten days ago. My question is can I get it filled without getting in trouble? Could I get it filled at another pharmacy? Is there a reason they would call my doctor? I dont have insruance either.  I cannot risk losing my medication so if there is any way I could get caught, I do not want to take the risk.

The pharmacies here are linked together and will flag narcotics/benzos/etc.

The only way I can see around it is if one is, say, 60qty and another is 30qty. Then they just think the Dr. upped the dose and you're picking up the rest.

Duplicate script filling = bad idea.

damnit! it is a narcotic/benzo/etc. So would a pharmacy at drug-town be linked to a pharmacy at GVS? I see how it wouldnt work taking it where I always get my medications filled.  When I was at the doctor I told him I still had pills left. all he said was to fill it within 30 days or it will expire. As much as I could use another script, Im not taking any risks.

FWIW, a friend of mine gets 200+ Percocets a month, and has had this happen.  Went to a different pharmacy than normal, and there were no problems.

When I tried to do this, the pharmacist asked me if I was getting it filled somewhere else. I said no, and he basically replied, "Well, it'd be highly illegal if you were. We're connected to all of the other local area pharmacies. Are you sure you didn't mistakenly fill it somewhere else?"

I think it's the DEA #'s that are linked not the pharmacies, but that was really chill of him to not report me or whatever.

You should go to the Kroger pharmacies.  They're usually pretty chill about that stuff.

Connecticut - I was a teenager, but didn't look like a scumbag, so he really had no reason to suspect it.

dude i would do it. its not like you actually committed any fraud that i can see such as changing the qty or anything. worse comes to worst i would just plead ignorance and say that you were only following the Dr's advice and assumed he was upping your dose.

Despite what they say, pharmacies are not linked very well (Pharm-tech here).  Maybe you will have intra-chain connections (CVS to CVS or Walgreens to Walgreens), but you should be fine as long as you go to different chain pharmacies.
