My dog can make better water color paintings.

I hate Manson and everything he stands for and has ever stood for. But I do like Antichrist Superstar.

1) How do you know Manson likes K and DXM? I've heard this rumor before on The Shroomery, but have never found anything to back it up

2) Those aren't exactly Manson's lyrics. Where did you get that from?

i quit listening to him some time ago, being sick of all my friends raving about mm all around
recently i found that he's alright, especially for driving ("fuck everything outside the car" - funny)
anyway i've always liked the antichrist superstar album best because of its NIN-like sound

i don't know about ketamine, but i remember a scene from his book about his first (perhaps the only) acid trip. as far as i can remember, it happened at some wild party and he was completely deranged, freaked out and didn't manage the situation at all. not exactly what you would call a responsible usage of psychedelics..

i also know that he has his absinthe sent from czech rep.

Manson is pretty cool, as a crazy big-time artist anyway. I used to like him when I was younger because I thought what he was saying was cool, etc. Then I guess I changed a bit and began to find it quite cheesy....now I appreciate Manson from a totally different angle...just his complete manipulation of his audience, never stepping out of character, ever, in public. He is truly a master at what he does...or should I say WAS...he seems to have lost the grip on his audience in the last couple of years, kind of retreated into the shadows, not producing much, except for his upper-class 'high art'...
Anyway, he is definatley very talented...I just think it would be interesting to know him on a genuine level, see what he really thinks...though I guess only Brian himself knows that...
And I will always think of albums such as 'Smells Like Children', 'Portrait of an American Family' and 'Antichrist Superstar' as fucking classics...quite comical really....

"now I appreciate Manson from a totally different angle...just his complete manipulation of his audience, never stepping out of character, ever, in public. He is truly a master at what he does..."

When you get a chance, you should see Michael Moore's new film, Bowling for Columbine. In it, there is a brief interview with Manson about the Columbine shootings, and the response of a large portion of that community which came out blaming it on him. Instead of mouthing off about himself, he did the opposite; when asked, "If you could say anything to the kids at Columbine, what would it be" he replied something like, "I wouldn't say one damn thing. I would do what nobody else in this situation did and that's LISTEN to what these kids had to say." They also got into a pretty lucid discussion about America's culture of fear, and how the media helps associate fear with consumption. This was really great, as these are essentially the same principles which Manson uses as a selling point. Like one of the posters above illustrated, a large portion of his audience purchases his records because it scares their parents, and because he takes all the things people are afraid of and presents it back to us in a tidy little package. Its the same story as a lot of the gangsta' rappers, who presented this frightening ghetto life image, while in reality these people mostly come from middle class backgrounds, in nice neighborhoods. Pointing out the hypocrisy in this is counterproductive, and really misses the point of how media-savvy a lot of 'shock-rock' stars are.

Manson seems to have a weird mixture of respect for his audience without hesitating to manipulate them to his advantage.

Musically, I'm not too impressed with him; and even as an entertainer I have problems with people who present themselves as being 'scary' or 'violent,' when they cannot possibly live up to the authenticity on these levels that previous artists/musicians have already attained (e.g. G.G. Allen, COUM Transmissions, etc). I'd take him over the boring whining Nu-metal crowd any day though.
