im currently listining to infected mushroom and was wondering what other psytrance bands there are that people on shroomery listen to?

I gave Infected Mushroom a try and I really don't like them.

I thoroughly enjoy IM. I am going to a concert of theirs next month ... can't wait.

I'm not quite sure what you consider Psytrance, but I really like Angel Tears, Boards of Canada, Abakus, and Bluetech.

Animal Collective is very good as well.

Aphex Twin is amazing ... I'm sure you already know of them though.

hehe yeah, I've been an avid fan of Aphex Twin for years.

I'm trying to expand my electronic music collection. I've heard Boards of Canada, as I recall I liked it.. I think I'll go download some. :smile:

Infected Mushroom is good stuff in my opinion, although their sound has changed quite a bit in the past few years.

Some of the stuff I like to listen to is more in the realm of 'psybient,' with a slower BPM than psytrance.

Recommended artists:

Shpongle- one of Simon Posford's best projects, he is an absolute genius when it comes to sampling and creating trippy soundscapes.

Some of his other projects include Celtic Cross, Younger Brother, Hallucinogen, and Mystery of the Yeti.

Infected Mushroom is easily my favorite, but then again I like them the best because to me they are the least "trance." Shpongle, Astrix and Electric Universe are all cool though.

Yeah I have substance D. It's pretty tight. I think I may enjoy sixth session and dungeon masters guide more.

what Kensington said. and, hands down some of my other favourites are:
  • HALLUCINOGEN. Simon Posford again, along with
  • YOUNGER BROTHER (collaboration with the guy from Prometheus, Benji Vaughn) bloody awesome.
  • there is some question as to whether Infected Mushroom are actually psytrance anymore, and a lot of psytrancers don't fancy them, but I think most of their output is fucking good music, whatever genre it is.
  • though they don't seem too well-known, Cujorius One is really good, and so is Nystagmus (who is going by other names now too: 'Anahata' maybe?)
  • Deedrah
  • Ace Ventura
  • Neelix
  • Talamasca
  • GMS (Growling Mad Scientists)
  • Xerox & Illumination
  • Chi-A.D.
  • Sensifeel

there are loads of others. if you want to find stuff you like go to psytrance.fm and also last.fm (just type in Hallucinogen where it says 'find artists like' and all, or click the psychedelic trance tag...)

i love full-on and progressive mainly; darkpsy is not really my bag, but i like a lot of the psychill out there now. Shpongle kicks ass now & forever.
