Ayahuasca Question

So I am about to order some stuff to make the brew and I'm gonna use MHRB as the main ingredient, but I'm not sure if I should use Syrian Rue as the MAOI or should I use Banisteriopsis caapi for a more traditional brew?

What's the difference in effects,

I don't want to vomit uncontrollably :smile:

Any input is great.

I wonder if the vomiting would be reduced if you swallowed purified DMT crystal instead of MHRB?

Caapi will definitely make you puke quite hard, and it can sometimes be difficult to keep down long enough for its inhibiting abilities to kick in.

Syrian Rue on the other hand is far easier on the stomach, though the mimosa itself is still quite stomach-cringing.

Syrian rue and Caapi each carry their own special touch to the experience, but I couldnt really recommend one over the other.
A caapi brew tends to last between 4-8 hours depending on dosage, whereas a brew with Rue lasts around 2-4.

Caapi tends to be a much more smooth experience, like a kind, patient teacher taking you by the hand into infinity, and in as far as you can handle, little by little if necessary. Its almost like a big brother helping you out through the way.

With rue on the other hand, it seems to come on quick, like a harsh teacher teaching you to swim by kicking your ass out of the boat into the deep end of the river.

I like both, and believe that they both impart something special into the trip. But for my first experience, I was happy it was rue for the simple fact that it was over quite quickly.

Im thinking I'll try Rue first, I thought that the caapi was easier on the stomach though, oh well, either way I'm fucked when it comes to vomiting :smile:

I think I'll try the Rue first, then Caapi after :smile:

Yeah, personally, I couldnt recommend one over the other for a first time.

The experience actually quite the same as far as content goes, its just the way that it is presented to you is different. I'm sure some others on here could explain it better than I, but you'll see what I mean afterwards :wink:

And yeah, the purge sucks, but it seems to really cleanse the mind and body in some strange exotic way.
if you consume the rue first, wait about 40 minutes and then consume the mimosa, it will be much easier on the stomach.

I think the purging thing makes sense too, on several mushroom trips the purge was one of the best parts (as well as the trip after the purge), kind of a way of saying "that's all the garbage coming out of you and all you have now is the good stuff" is a very positive thing to be thinking while you're tripping.

I can't wait till I try it though,

The caapi sound enticing but I think I'll try the Rue (just because it's cheaper :smile:)

I'll definately try the caapi eventually.

I am not trying to de-rail your thread Pfctc but I really want to know how similar the effects of aya are to smoked DMT.I really want to try the traditional brew but to be honest I dont think I really like the real heavy body load of smoked DMT.How do they compare?I love smoking enough dmt to feel the effect right be for entering hyperspace.

Thats exactly what its like with 'huasca as well.
For me it happens this way every time:
I take the brew, I sit patiently and wait until i can no longer hold the brew in, I puke my insides out for about 10 minutes, then my entire body feel completely purified and I feel as if I am prepared to take on anything that is thrown my way. The body seems to purge itself of all emotional baggage and even physical maladies in order to prepare itself as a vessel for the divine.
I've even had colds disappear after a huasca trip. Another thing that I have found is that if I dont puke, the trip doesnt come, I simply experience threshold effects.

Very interesting,

it seems as if purging is a vital part of the huasca trip in general.

I'll definately keep that in mind,

mind telling me what kind of effects you get?

I've read stuff about talking to spirits and all that..

I'd love to hear the effects first hand though. Is it comparable to anything else? (Lsd, shrooms, etc)

I dont really find it comparable to anything else, but if I had too, I would compare it to shrooms, mainly because of the overt intensity of it.

I'll try to portray my first experience as simple as possible.

After holding the brew down for about 30 minutes, I started to feel a bit altered. Slightly disoriented and relaxed in a calming way. I then decided it was time to let myself go. I went to the bathroom and puked my guts out for about 10 minutes, and for a brief moment while clenching the toilet the ground seemed to dissappear, leaving me and the toilet suspended alone in space. This made me puke some more. After this, I felt immediately better.
I went to the sink to wash my mouth and face, and looking into the mirror I was overcome with a sense of peace and confidence, and simply smiled for a few minutes.
I went back to the sofa and sat down. Almost immediately after sitting I felt something strange coming on, a deep disorientation, a lagging feeling. My head felt light, some parts of my body felt heavy, very strange. in the far reaches of my mind I could hear a high tone, increasing slowly as it got louder. As the tone got louder and my body started to feel more and more strange I lay down to get comfortable. this seemed to really do it.
 
upon seeing the roof of my living room, tracing lights darted across my vision, spectral dots of light were exploding and moving in and out of space, disappearing as I noticed them.
My body felt stranger and stranger, the boundries between me and the couch seemed to vanish; I could no longer tell where my body ended and the couch began.
I could see my living room, and I was aware that my body was still there, but it felt as though I was leaving, as if I were slipping through some sort of membrane between this dimension and another. I could hear all types of voices, but could not discern any rational words or sentences.
The visuals got stronger; Vibrant fractal patterns and light grids overlapped the world that I was seeing, but no longer fully existed in. There were periods where I wasnt sure if my eyes were open or closed. I could feel my heart beating hard somewhere in the distance; I couldnt quite place just where it was located.
At one point I became acutely aware of a presence around me. It began to speak to me in my own voice, yet was beyond my control. It asked me why I was afraid. I told it because I was afraid to die. It responded, "but your already dead." The words astonished me. he continued, "listen your heart is no longer breathing, look at your chest, there is no more rhythm."
I then realized he was right, I could no longer hear the heart-beat, and any feelings of it dissappeared long ago. Then, out of the blue, I saw the back of my head, as If I were standing behind my body looking down on the sofa. Then I heard the voice again, "i'm taking you further"
Then, with no hesitation I was gone. My body, the living room, and the comfortable couch were a distant memory belonging to someone else. I could now see landscapes, jungles, rainforests, oceans. Its was as if I were flying over at lightspeed. The voice was still talking, telling me things about my life, the people around me, and directing me through every corridor and unlit passage in my mind, exploring everything. I was told deep secrets about life, the universe and everything. I became aware that everything in this world we live in is an illusion, and that death is the most hilarious and over-hyped subject in the world! I felt the most ridiculous humor envelope me.
Alot more happened, and more was told, but I forget the details and the most important parts. But eventually, I was back on the couch, feeling myself slowly come back into normal being, dissapointed that it was ending. Sort of like the feeling of being on a rollercoaster, only to have to get off as soon as it gets really good.
  After the experience was fully over, the best part came. I felt completely rejuvinated, energetic, and whole. I experienced the greatest euphoria I have ever known, and felt so happy for the chance to be alive and breathing, to have the oppuritunity to live and explore this amazing world of ours. It was now 2:00am, and despite the fact that I fasted for a week, and havent slept in 20 hours, I really wanted to get out into the world. I wanted to run, go to the beach, talk to people, everything.
 
Wow I cant believe I got through that report. Sorry if thats a little hard to understand, this afghan hashish started to kick in at the begining of this post lol

how much MHRB did you take and how much rue?

That's nothing like I was expecting lol, and I can relate to the not knowing if your eyes are open or closed sensation, I got it last time I did shrooms, mindblowing lol.

I used 3 grams rue, and 12 grams MHRB, the high-quality inner root bark. 
You could take more, or less, but this is my preferred dosage.

Yeah I've seen that recommened elsewhere, seems like a good starting dose to weigh things out,

I greatly appreciate the input though :smile:

any other advice you wanna throw out there? I'll take all the advice I can, hopefully I'll have the stuff ready in a few weeks, need to wait for my MHRB to get here.

Probably nothing you havent read already.
Fasting and meditating before the trip are always an excellent idea. Its also good to have a sitter nearby if possible. Its not necessary, but I've found that it helps for comfort reasons.
During my first experience, my ego had a rather difficult time letting go, and I latched on to anything around me that helped hold me into the world that was slipping away. Having my wife nearby helped by offering comfort and security as I felt the embrace of psuedo-death. But this is just personal experience, every one is different. You should be able to judge your needs by your experience with other psychedelics.
