Princess Mononoke

Anyone dig it?

I just re-watched it today.  I am not usually a huge anime buff, but dang I really enjoyed it.

Any recommendations for similar movies?

I'm way past my anime phase but Hayao Miyazake's (he made Mononoke) films are always worth watching. He has done a whole shitload of movies, though most of them are more kid-friendly than Mononoke. Nausicaa of the Valley of Winds is most in the same vein and probably my favorite. Then there's My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Flying Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and I think some others.

Also, it's not Miyazaki, but if you haven't seen Akira you really should check that out.

Akira was good, and Spirited away was pretty dang good.  I watched it on LSD and said to myself and others "WTF" the whole time haha.

yeahs studio ghibli stands for quality !

check out the OVA of rurouni kenshin, not the tv series and not the 2nd ova but the original !

that's what you want "Kenshin Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal" some quality but some violence aswell.

The Evangelion series is good as well as the two Ninja Scroll movies. Haven't seen em in a while but I remember em being pretty badass. Evangelion is kind of weird and Ninja Scroll is brutal.

Dude, it's true that shit is the bomb! I am ,no anime fan. But all the studio ghibli. watch all studio ghibli, especially
-Grave of the Fireflies
-Porco Rosso (I think)
-Spirited away (definitely)

moving castle was the biggest disappointment in studio ghiblis movies ever !

that was so disney-esque i felt like throwing up, especially the ending to explain everything in 5 minutes WTF.. beh :frown:

i didn't like it as much as spirited away n howls moving castle. Prob cause its a bit older style but still awesome. tales of earth sea is nice too!

oh and a new series called Genius Party is pretty rad, posted it on here a few weeks ago but no response. series of mini films each done by a diff japan anime director. pure class! :laugh: :P

oh if you are going to watch kenshin, please watch the anime series first b4 OVA. makes the OVAs sooooo much betr!

GOD NO ! the tv anime series is utter shit !

kenshin is serious business, the tv series is full of jokes and super-deformed stuff ...

i love it! Not watching the  series would make Kenshin seem like hes missing something!

I love being able to watch Sano, and the whole family, without that I would def feel like kenshin was incomplete.

his battles between Saitō, Sōjirō, Shishio I make it worth watching!
