this was in The Guardian national newspaper a few weeks ago. a mixture of white and black students were tested in parallel studies of physical prowess and mental acumen.

when the students were told to anticipate results from a study of the nature they were involved in, the white and black students conformed to stereotypical results.

when they were not informed of the reason for these tests both races of students excelled more readily in their non-stereotypical fields. each race recorded a certain percentile increase in performance when not under pre-cognized socio-racial pressures.

i can't remember the precise percentage, though it was moderate, yet significant. something like ten percent increase when released from such pressure as this thread conforms to.

there is a powerful argument here on the debilitating effect of social attitude upon individual psyche.

but honestly - the whole field is unwinnable so lets just stop pulling at the thread shall we? perhaps just integrate such issues into a general positive consciouness and chill, hmmm?
