Share your stories.

A few famous people went insane. Nietzsche supposedly lost it when he saw a horse being whipped, he hugged the horse and cried and never uttered a coherent word again after.

I know of a few criminals who are definitely completely insane.  Joseph Garner and Charlie Manson.

Hmm...

Personally, I think that Manson is actually more sane than 99% of society.  He doesn't delude himself with endless falsehoods like most people do.  He knows who he is.

I had a horrible mental breakdown, many years ago and many miles from my home that bordered on insanity. No drugs or alcohol involved, only stress from a job on the road gone terribly wrong. I still can get insane when some asshole driver on their cell phone cuts me off or drives 60 in a 65MPH in the left lane. But thats just me...:peace:

Insanity is just a word that society uses to separate people that have a better ideology than what society currently is. It's hard for most people to comprehend past what they see now so they label someone who can as "insane".

Not to mention the word insane has the same root word as sanitary. So someone who is truly insane can't wipe their own ass. The world really needs to stop mislabeling people if they want to gain any credibility among people that can actually think for themselves.

Just my two cents...

Not to sound like a jerk, but that is pretty far from what I'd call insanity.  Shit...most people get furious when that happens...its called road rage.

"insane" is not a medical term. The word insane can be used to cover a wide range of psychotic disorders.

Hard to imagine that's the same man who inspired a lot of Nazi philosophy (the writings are still top notch in spite of that, don't get me wrong).

Still, "not sane" is the right implication for the purpose of the discussion, rather than restricting it to any single or categorical disorder.

Well screw the generality of it. I would think when dealing with such things as serious as psychotic disorders one would be more specific instead of general.

Sounds like a cop out to not have to consider what the other person is saying to me. Just a reason to dismiss any truth they have to offer.

Since when is there such a thing as 'normal' anyways?

The internet has ruined me.  I can no longer tell if something is a joke unless there is an emoticon there to indicate to me that its a joke...
