Thats not completely true, Federal, and State taxes account for up to a third of the price you pay at the pump.

Yes, but these taxes are fairly standard and the percentage doesn't go up when the price goes up..

The actual price of gas is directly affected by the price of oil.

Not how much the state/fed tax is.
Those taxes are mainly to help pay for highway repair.

For the most part...OPEC

Pretty much.

The price of oil is the primary factor in the price of gas.

ok well then "technically" your right by the loop hole, gas prices are directly related to oil prices....but the oil prices can and are manipulated by many many people which hence affects gas prices

Do you not agree that OPEC has the biggest influence on oil prices.

all i agree with is that its impossible after all these bailouts...after all the inflation, after how whooped the automakers look....that its pure coincidence that gas prices are down....somebody made some shit happen so people would start buying cars again.  and you might have wheasled your way out of your comment about gov and automakers having nothing to do with gas prices....but anyways i won't beat that dead horse any more.

i will continue with my previous statement however that there are many many things that influence the "gas" prices.  and there's many things that "can" or "could" influence it much more.

further ill go on to say that gov/automobile/and or oil companys have had the greatest effect on my gas prices for me personaly this year than anything else.  and also im going to "guess" they do hold the most power since your wanting an answer for that.

so now that ive feed you a bunch of crap for you to knit pick...how about you tell me why you think opec holds all the influence?

Please explain how the automobile companies affect the price of gas.

Quote:
The single largest entity impacting the world's oil supplies is the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), a consortium of 13 countries: Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.

Together, these 13 nations are responsible for 40 percent of the world's oil production and hold the majority of the world's oil reserves, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). [source: EIA]. When OPEC wants to raise the price of crude oil, it simply reduces production. This causes gasoline prices to jump because of the short supply, but also because of the possibility of future reductions. When oil production dips, gas companies get nervous. The mere threat of oil reductions can raise gas prices.

there companys with lobbyests which leads to gov.  im sure they have people high up that just fuck with shit to increase sales.  fuck the gov is GIVEING THEM free money, OUR money....right now....so that clearly tell's me they have some power

as for oil companys, you might not be aware of this or not, but with i tell you guys im getting gas for 0.10 a gallon im not bullshiting....now i wonder who the fuck is all making that shit happen?  again if you think in the worst economy we have seen in ages, with everything looking like shit, that gas prices will just magically fall to low numbers because of OPEC?

tell me WHY DOES OPEC WHAT LOW GAS PRICES??????  thats right you don't know do you....your just waiting for me to say some more shit that you can knitpick cuss you have no imagination....other than google and wiki.

that auto companies have anything to do with gas prices.

really cuss last time i checked everyone hated america, but all the sudden it changes now.  anyways what it really sounds like your saying is automobile makers have used there power of persuasion to point this economy thing out no? lol.....:blah:

and yah i already proved automakers have influence when i talked about lobbyists, i mean if they don't have influence then they sure are wasting alot of time and money right...all i hear from you is :laugh:enial:

you proved my point for me...economy.  if there's no cars to drive nobody is going to buy gas...i mean "oil".  automakers say hey were going bankrupt...its on the news....gas prices plumet.  seems pretty striaght forward to me huh?  but i guess things just arn't that simple

All you have provided is an opinion that auto companies have an effect on gas prices....when they clearly don't.
OPEC, and the price of oil, is the direct cause of the price of gas

Put some facts on the table (not your opinion) for me to dispute.

Oil prices have been falling drastically for the past 4 months...that is the DIRECT cause of the gas prices falling, not the auto companies going bottom up.

I guess that banks going bottom up has an effect on the gas prices as well :whatever:

> OPEC, and the price of oil, is the direct cause of the price of gas

Almost.  OPEC certainly tries to influence the price of oil by altering the supply available.  It is demand for oil that determines the price of oil, and ultimately influences the price of gas.  However, the refineries that produce gas from the oil also muck with the pricing.  They try to influence supply by capping production capacity.  Again, ultimately, it is demand for gas that determines the final price of gas, but demand and supply are closely dependent upon one another.
