Serial Killers??
    #9324332 -

So at night I think about so many different things and I watched a thing about serial killers and they said that their medulla is smaller than most ppls, well psychopaths have smaller medullas anyway I was wondering if a serial killer ended up getting amnesia and started living a "normal" life if they would still end up becoming serial killers again?

This is all hypothetical so any opinions or ideas are welcome.

Can a person forget their nature and/or morals of what they considered to be "right and wrong" through amnesia....?

Brain damage doesn't work in real life like it does in shitty Adam Sandler movies.

i'm no expert in this field by any means, but if he/she got to start over in a "normal" life, surrounded by loving family and good friends i don't think he/she would be a serial killer.

right and wrong doesn't stop the urge to kill though, many of them know it's wrong they just can't stop.

And after that first kill, they're already fucked, so why not kill more?
After that first kill, right and wrong doesn't matter anymore. :mad2:

I was watching a documentary on the Uni-bomber, Ted Kazinski.  When he was a baby he was quarantined for 10 days in the hospital with limited physical contact because of some disease he had.  After that his family said he never acted the same and pushed away all human contact.  Pretty crazy.

He was so afraid of people thinking he was gay it was really odd.  Maybe if he had just been openly gay he wouldn't have killed, I don't know

It may sound clichebut Jack the ripper really intreges(sp) me.

Phan- That's a good question. I mean if something is in ur nature and you get serious amnesia will ur true nature still shine through or will it change?

This was my point exactly....
I tend to believe that the person's "nature" would still be intact....
I don't think that their individual morals (as opposed to society's morals) would change....

This is what they were talking about when they did a study on a psychopaths brain. They said because of the smaller medulla that they couldnt actually put theirselves in someone elses "shoes" and feel what they feel, and that thats the reason why they can commit such hainous acts and feel no remorse for them.

I'd  like to to see the outcome of giving someone like that a dose of Psilocybin or LSD.  Maybe cause some sort of paradigm shift?

But then there's the question of if their nature was influenced by their surroundings and if their brains were washed of the memories if the new surroundings would change their "nature"

Yes, it is a lack of empathy....
It has been some time since I read about this, but from what I remember, if the empathy emotions are not picked up at an early age of development in childhood, they never will be....
It goes down to the core programming/development, the "nature" of a person....

Could very well increase paranoia and make them worse.
